Description

Discover the majestic Sajama Volcano, Bolivia’s highest peak at 6,542 m (21,407 ft)!

Tucked away in the core of the Bolivian plateau, the volcano overlooks Sajama. This stunning natural giant's name comes from the Aymara term “Chak-jjaña,” meaning “West,” a nod to its rich cultural heritage.

For climbers, the northwestern route is especially appealing—not for its technical difficulty, but for its perfect balance of challenges and stunning views. Following the ascent of Acotango, you can take on a 2–3 day ascent to the volcano starting from the charming village of Sajama, located at 4,220 m (13,854 ft).

Journey through a scenic ravine to reach base camp, then follow a rugged rocky path that climbs to high camp at 5,650 m (18,536 ft), perfectly positioned on a ridge offering expansive views of the plateau.

As your trusted guide, I invite you to join me on this volcanic ascent in Bolivia! Contact me today to secure your place on this expedition!

For more than 20 years I have worked as a guide in Chile. Join me and I´ll be able to show you the wonderful spots that the Andes offer to those who share my passion for big mountains.

I live in Santiago de Chile, the Chilean capital, where there are many options for high altitude ascents, even over 6,000 meters, in close proximity to the city. I also regularly organize trips to the Chilean Altiplano, where there are many mountains over 6000 meters. However, the main attraction of these trips is to witness the intensity and loneliness of the Atacama Desert.

I would love to have the opportunity to share these magical moments with you and help you achieve your goals and dreams.
