Description

One of the most majestic mountains in the Apuan Alps is the Pizzo d’Uccello (1.781). It stands out especially for its North Face, of almost 800 meters. This face compares in height and offers ascents as thrilling as the ones in the most famous peaks in the Western Alps or the Dolomites.

So join me on this climbing trip. And discover this magical place!

For our climbing adventure we’ll follow the Via Classica Oppio-Colnaghi. This route will pass by characteristic slot-chimney patches that run throughout the entire wall.

We’ll depart from the Donegani refuge in Val Serenaia early in the morning. Then, after 45 minutes or so of trekking we’ll reach the via ferrata of Foce Siggioli, that will offer a hypnotizing view of the north wall of Pizzo. And it runs downhill for about an hour, giving us the chance to take in the wonderful things we’ll see around us. Upon completion, we’ll get ready to tackle our main goal: Pizzo d’Uccello.

It will take us from 6 to 10 hours to reach the top of Pizzo. And once we stand at its top, all our effort will be completely worth it! Then, once we reach the summit, we’ll descend along the normal route (grade II). Finally, we’ll head to mount Giovo and back to the Donegani.

The ascent will be long. Although it doesn’t present difficulties higher than grade V, it’s challenging and requires previous training and a good fitness level. There’s also the possibility of taking the Diretta Biagi-Nerli, a tougher route for more prepared climbers

Do you want to tackle the Pizzo d’Uccello? Don’t hesitate and send me a message. I promise it will be an unforgettable adventure.

What people are saying about Prorock

Isaac

Roberto and Christian were amazing guides, very professional, and a lot of fun to hang out with on the climb and afterward.

The climb was a great introduction for newbies - I found it the perfect balance of challenging and fun! Franco is knowledgeable, patient and funny!

Haemish

Our guide, Franco, was awesome! We climbed for about four hours on an easy, yet STUNNING route. The rock was a bit chossy, but we got through it fine :) Lovely day out!

This place blew my mind, it's a true Natural Waterpark and I recommend it 100%! It’s not well-known, but from now on it should be be a must when you visit Tuscany. It's located 1:30 hs from Firenze, making the Apuan Alps an amazing option for a day trip. I went up by train and Carlo, the guide, was waiting for me in the train station. I've never done a canyoning adventure before and it turned out to be the most fun I had this summer. This adventure is for all levels, if I did it anyone can! But you must not have a fear of heights and have a notion about rock climbing or rappelling. The jumps at first are a little bit scary, but there is nothing better than overcoming fears and doing it anyway! The experience ends up under a Roman bridge, and it makes everything so special. I felt super safe at all times, because our guides, Carlo and Franco, were just FANTASTIC! Just book your adventure anytime with Explore-Share and you’ll never forget it!
