Description

Are you ready for a thrilling 2-day mountain climbing experience in the Andes? Then join me on this unique program to the top of the Cotopaxi Volcano in Ecuador!

At an altitude of 5,897 m.a.s.l (19347.113 ft), Cotopaxi is one of the most beautiful volcanos in the world. It is also one of the most active and the second highest volcano in Ecuador. Its perfectly symmetrical cone, covered in a thick blanket of snow and ice, gracefully rises from a beautiful paramo plateau.

On this 2-day adventure, we will set off to the summit of this amazing peak from Quito. First, we will drive to the Cotopaxi parking area. From there, we will hike for one hour to get to the Jose Ribas shelter, located at 4,800 m.a.s.l (15748.03 ft). We will have dinner at the shelter and sleep a few hours before waking to set off at 0:00 am. The climb to the summit usually takes between 5 and 7 hours. Once we get to the top, we will enjoy a wonderful sunrise and spectacular views of major equatorial peaks, the endless Amazon Basin, and Cotopaxi’s 1000-ft. deep, active crater. Finally, we will return by the same path to the shelter and then drive back to Quito.

The climb up to the summit of Cotopaxi is not highly technical, but it does require proper acclimatization. Also, I recommend you train for endurance. 30 minutes of exercise every day for a couple of consecutive days will help you feel confident in your Cotopaxi adventure. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you on the way!

So, are you ready to climb a stunning Ecuadorian volcano? Then book your place now and join me on this 2-day climb to the top of Cotopaxi!

Aspirant Guide

I am a member of the Ecuadorian Association of Mountain Guides (ASEGUIM) and of the International Association of Mountain Guides (IFMGA). Climbing has always been a passion in my life and becoming a mountain guide was my dream. Now both of them have become real as I work as a mountain guide.

I have climbed since I was a teenager. I was 15 years old when I realized the affinity I had for this profession. I have been in charge of mountains expeditions in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina, succesffully reaching the summits. Although I am young (26 years old), I have a lot of experience. I have guided my clients on big walls with grade 7a + and mountains with TD difficulty.

I love to feel the excitement of being at great heights far from the ground. At the same time, I enjoy exploring hidden places and meeting new friends during these trips. All of these experiences have let me overcome my limits. One of my strengths is knowing the climbing techniques very well and having the ability to transmit to my clients these complex knowledge in a simple and fun way. I am a hardworker, an enthusiastic, positive and patient person.

I am a certified guide with the ability to advise my clients in a personalized way. My job is to adapt the routes and itineraries according to their abilities and level of experience. It is the best way to help them achieve their goals. As a mountain guide, the main objective before reaching the top of the mountain is to minimize the hazards to guarantee their safety. All the expeditions I guided have become enjoyable and unforgettable experiences for my clients.
