* Enjoy a full-day climb to the summit of Huarapasca in Peru.
* Marvel at some great views of the surrounding peaks in the Cordillera Blanca.
* An easy climb, this trip is open to climbers of varying levels.
At first, when looking upon the mammoth peaks in the Cordillera Blanca in Peru, it would appear that every snow-capped peak is difficult to climb. However, there are actually some relatively easy, yet still giant, mountains in the range that you can climb, in just a single day! One of those mountains is Huarapasca (5,418m).
Incredibly accessible, Huarapasca has 3 slopes of 60 to 70 degrees, which make them perfect to gain experience with climbing. Climbing this mountain is also a perfect way to get properly acclimatized if you have ambitions on climbing other, larger peaks in the area. Finally, the views you will get from the summit, not just of the Cordillera Blanca, but also Huayhuash, Negra and Hualcan, are incredible.
Our trip will begin in Huaraz, very early, at 3:00 am. From there, we will go to the Campo Morrena (4,950m). After that, we will climb to the summit of Huarapasca, which you will reach in the morning, where you can see the sun shining. We will then descend the mountain and return to Huaraz.
While this trip is available to climbers of various levels, it is important that all participants are in good physical condition.

Tips for guide / staff
Our expedition starts in Huaraz, we will pick you up at your hotel with private transportation. After the pick up we will head south through the Huaylas valley to Catac village and we will turn to the east side to Huascaran National Park control, in this place we will check in and continue along a road to the starting point of our climb. At this starting point we will load in our backpack the mountain equipment and after 1 hour of hike by the moraine we will arrive to the glacier, at this point we will equip ourselves and our guide will make an inspection to all the indispensable for the climb and finally he will rope us to continue with the route. The route starts with a 100m (60°) shovel, after overcoming this section we will make a traverse through the plateau of the mountain until we reach the next 50m (65°) shovel, finally, after 4 hours of climbing we will reach the summit to enjoy a splendid view of the mountains of 4 different mountain ranges: Blanca, Huayhuash, Raura and Negra, a privileged characteristic of this peak.
We remain at the summit to rest, hydrate and take pictures. Finally we make the return down the same route of climbing to arrive to our vehicle to be transferred to Huaraz.
In Catac village you can make a stop to enjoy a delicious lunch of fresh trout, traditional food of this region.

An extraordinary expérience with Pablo and Alex, two fantastic guides (and now friends for life) from Huaras, Peru, who are at the same time extremely professional and incredebly flexible. We reached the summit on day 8 to benefit from a good weather window. My heurt is full of gratitude for the who le expérience and the magical encounters I was blessed with during that expedition. Probably amongst the very best memories in my entire life. Thank you si much, guys! And see you soon for new adventures 😛🔥❤️😊

The guide did the absolute minimum he could possibly do. The food provided was definitely not enough for what we were doing. This was already a fast itinerary and he cut it short by two more days. It made it extremely dangerous for us as clients. 2 of the 5 of us had to get flown off the mountain by helicopter due to edema because we didn’t acclimate properly. The guide then lied on social media and claimed 100% success to the summit. He really is a snake. He only cared about cutting everything and doing it as cheap as possible, most likely just to make a few more bucks. If this was a service offered in the U.S., there would’ve been a lawsuit. He should never guide this trip ever again for the pure safety of the clients.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
