Description

If you are looking for a feeling of complete freedom and the grandeur of breathtaking winter landscapes, we have what you are looking for! Join us for 1 or more days and enjoy an authentic backcountry skiing experience in the Chic Choc mountains, in the centre of the Gaspé Peninsula, in eastern Quebec.

Located in the Gaspesie National Park, the Chic Choc mountain range is a true backcountry skiing paradise, offering breathtaking views and getting an average snowfall of 7 metres of snow on the summits every winter.

Mont Jacques Cartier (1268m)  is the highest peak of the range, but there are actually 25 other mountains over 1000 m in this area. Most of the peaks are actually wide open plateaus, of similar elevation.

The Chic Choc Mountains have remained a fairly well-kept secret, therefore you will be skiing with few people in the mountains. There are so many vast areas and spectacular spots to explore in these off-the-beaten-path location!

We can take you to Murdochville, Mount Lyall, Vallieres-De-Saint-Real,  Mines Madelaine, Champs de Mars, Blacktooth Bowl, or St Albert, just to name some of the best routes and tours!

January to March is the best time of the year to fully enjoy the spectacular Chic-Chocs’ powder,  with excellent touring to be had throughout the mountains, on a good year.  March and April are great for exploring areas requiring a longer approach, because days are longer, there is lower risk of avalanches and more stable snow.

However, even if you come at a time when there is hard-packed snow, the unique features of the Chic-Chocs and the different orientation of the slopes allow you to always find variety.

Don’t hesitate to send us a request if you want to enjoy an unforgettable backcountry skiing experience! Book your trip and start planning your next amazing winter adventure in Quebec!

You can also enjoy ski touring in Canada.

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!

Nate was very knowledgeable and got me to the top of mountain. He’s not as engaging as most of the guides I’ve had over the years. I’ve learned a lot about most of my climbs as guides talk about the mountain and the area maybe even plant and animals and I enjoy getting to know them better. We did talk a bit more on the way out of the trailhead. All in all a good experience. But not sure your company told him I had a knee replacement and would be slow.
