Description

The High Tatras mountains are a stunning collection of peaks spread across the border between Slovakia and Poland. And on this ice climbing course trip we will focus on the lower levels of the mountains and climb on one of the several amazing ice walls found throughout the range.

Since this trip is an ice climbing course, it is open to all people who would like to learn how to properly and safely ice climb. You do not have to be an expert to participate in this course, but you should be in good enough physical condition to climb freely.

We will cover many things on this trip, including basic techniques of how to move on the ice and the proper way to use cats. We will also cover rope work. This will involve knots, rope attachment, cooperative assurance techniques, top ropes, harnessing and rope removal. We will go over lock technology as well, including sequential locks and stationary locks. Finally, I will teach you about proper rescue techniques, including basics of first aid, rescue after falling, wounding, and basic treatment.

That may seem like a lot to cover in just one day. However, everything I will teach you will be invaluable for any future ice climbing adventures you may have. Furthermore, because this course takes place in the stunning Tatras mountains, you will also get to enjoy some truly spectacular views as you learn.

So send me a request, and let me teach all I can about the necessary skills for safe ice climbing. Hence allowing you to properly enjoy this absolutely thrilling sport whenever the opportunity to do so arises.

I also lead several mountain climbing expeditions in the Tatras mountains as well, including this trip to the summit of Lomnicky peak.
