Description

On this unique hike, you will reach the summit of the 8th highest peak of the High Tatras, the 2,603m high Maly Ladovy Stit. As the summit is located on the east of the High Tatras' main ridge, it offers amazing views of a large number of mountains in the east, south, and west (Lomnický štít, Gerlachovský štít, Slavkovský štít, etc.), towards the Belianske Tatras, and Poland.

The hike starts easily in Stary Smokovec(1,000m) or Hrebienok (1,285m), from where we will pass the Obrovský waterfall before entering Malá Studená Dolina valley. After walking for around an hour, we will walk by Zamkovského chalet (1,450m), and then, we will continue on the bottom of the valley, slowly gaining elevation until the path turns sharply to the left. Then the fun starts and we will pick up a lot of altitude over a short distance before reaching the second chalet on our way, the Teryho chata. It is the highest chalet in the High Tatras and Slovakia (2,015m), open year round.

After a short break at the chalet, we will continue and pass by 5 Spiš tarns, Pfinova kopa (2,121m), and then we will reach the Dolinka pod Sedielkom (valley) with the highest tarn of the High Tatras, the Blue tarn(2,192m). From there, we will hike up sharp zigzags to the Sedielko settle(2,343m), from where we will do our last 250 meters climb towards the summit, at an altitude of 2,603m.

The hike is very demanding and requires an excellent fitness level. There is a 1350-meter altitude gain and loose rocky terrain. Although it is very demanding, it is also very rewarding, and you will be carefully guided every step of the way.

Mountain Leader

I am an UIMLA mountain leader, tourist guide, ski instructor and Österreichischer Alpenverein certified via ferrata Instructor.

I grow up and I am still living in High Tatras (Slovakia), the smallest high mountians in the world. Mountains and nature influenced my life, since I was a little boy. Everywhere I travel, mountains determine my direction. I hiked in Scottish Highlands, Alps(Italian, French and Austrian), Julian Alps(Slovenia), Mount Olympus and another mountains.

I obtained my mountain leader certificate in 2019 and since then I led people of various nationalities in Slovakia and abroad.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
