Description

Join me on the most beautiful day hike of Slovakia’s most iconic mountain! You can see life-changing panoramas on one of the country’s cultural landmarks – all in a day’s work.

Krivan, standing at 2,494 meters tall, is located in the High Tatras mountain range between southern Poland and northern Slovakia. With a panoramic view of the region that will take your breath away, it is widely regarded as Slovakia’s most beautiful mountain.

Krivan received its name from its curved summit, which makes it easy to identify in the skyline. The tradition of patriots and enthusiasts climbing to the top of the mountain has recently been revived. Weighing heavily on the cultural significance of its country, mention of Krivan can be found in the literature and poetry of Slovakia throughout history.

We start the hike at Tri Studnicky, where we will ascend by weaving along a marked path to Grunik (1576). We cross the slope of Priehyba Hill and continue to the top. Once we arrive, we can take in one of the world’s most unique mountain views.

Take in the landscape of beautiful lakes and dense forests from the peak of this incredible hike!

No technical skills are required for this hike, but there is a bit of a difficult climb near the top. An intermediate fitness level is necessary for this program.

Mountain Leader

I'm a UIMLA mountain leader and national tourist guide (for cultural and historical heritage trips).

I was born in Poprad in 1969. From my early childhood, I often looked out my bedroom window into the distance of the picturesque High Tatras, which fascinated me even then. In high school I started going with my friends to a small climbing "expedition" on the surrounding rocks, and later to the High Tatras. Mostly I went with a friend whose father was a member of the Mountain Rescue Service. During my studies at Comenius University in Bratislava, I loved coming back to the mountains.
In 1999 I started actively volunteering paramedic of the Tatra Mountain Rescue Service, and then I was hired there.
Precisely because of my relationship with the mountains I began working as a tourist guide with a focus on mountain areas.
Since 1998 I accompany tourists from around the world to the mountains and surrounding towns.
In 2011 I got certified as mountain leader.
Besides, I have been working as a member of the Council of the Slovak Association of mountain Leaders since it was established in 2011.

The guide has wide knowledge of the area. He provide took care of our safety during the hike. Although we did it from Slovenia side, I just have to say thank you for the superb hike and great experiencie along our journey to the top. I didn’t find the hike difficult, however we got a really bad condition in our way to the top. Once we achieve the peak the sun rised.

Marcel is a great guide. We had a great day with him - both for the places but especially for his company. You can definitely see he loves his job, the places and showing them to people. Aside from being an expert of his own field, he has also been a great travel companion and he had many historical/anecdotical stories to share. Definitely recommended!
