Description

On this unforgettable adventure, we will climb to the top of Babia Góra - the highest peak of Western Beskids (1725 m asl) and the 2nd highest mountain massif in Poland.

Babia Góra offers magnificent views of surrounding mountain ranges including the Tatra Mountains and is the only mountain in the Western Beskids, where an alpine belt can be observed at the top of the peak. Babia Góra massif is located in a national park in the Carpathians, which has acquired the status of Biosphere Reserve and was included in the UNESCO “Man and Biosphere” program. This makes it an amazing spot to visit while in Poland.

Our adventure starts in Zawoja. I offer transportation by private car from Krakow for a group of up to 4 people. The route to the summit of Babia Góra can be adjusted to the experience and physical fitness of the group members. We also have the chance to stay overnight in the mountain hut in Markowe-Szczawiny or enjoy a meal there on the way down. Because we can enjoy some flexibility, you can let me know your preferences and we can organize a tour adapted to your level.

Send your request today and let's start planning an unforgettable hike in Poland's Western Beskids mountains. I look forward to guiding you!

FAQs

What is the average distance and altitude gain that we will hike each day?

We will hike approx 15 km with 700 m of ascent and descent during that trip.

What experience do I need to have? How fit do I need to be? Is this program suitable for children or older people?

No prior experience is required, as there are several trails leading to the top of Babia Góra of a different difficulty level from easy ones (a simple hike) to difficult ones (metal steps and chains for additional security). Note, that during one day we will gain approx 700 m of elevation, hence good fitness level is required. The program may be suitable for children and older people under the condition that they are able to make approx 15 km with 700 m of ascent and descent during that trip.

How can I get to the trailhead/meeting point?

We meet at an agreed meeting point in Krakow and will be traveling to the trailhead via my private car.

How will accommodation and meals be handled during the trek?

This is one day trip hence no need for accommodation. We will stop at the mountain hut on our way back, hence it will be possible to buy a meal. It is recommended though to have some extra calories (snacks) and water during the trip.

Are there any other special requirements such as permits/insurance/vaccines that I need to consider before the tour?

No, there are no special requirements for this trip.

What is the best time of the year for this hike?

The best time for this hike is starting from end-May till end-October.

Can I join a group?

No, I'm offering private hikes only.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

I will be offering an alternative, safer trail in Babia Góra National Park or its vicinity. Another option is to cancel the trip.

What equipment will I need?

In general, you will need a backpack, good hiking shoes, a first aid kit with your medicines, a warm clothing layer, sun protection, wind and rain protective clothes, a headtorch, and trekking poles. I will provide the detailed equipment list prior to the trip.

This trip exceeded our expectations from start to finish. Pawel was a fantastic guide, very experienced and had an incredible knowledge of the geological features of the Gorce mountains and surrounding mountain ranges as well as the historical aspects of Polish history. As beginners to snowshoeing, Pawel was understanding and knowledgeable of the most suitable routes to take. In addition, at the beginning of the trip we presented Pawel with a problem which he resolved with empathy like a true gentleman. For that we were truly thankful. The whole trip was incredible. Memories created that we will never forget. Thank you so much!
