1-day Intro to Rock Climbing near Seattle, WA (USA)

Learn the basics of rock climbing in the Pacific Northwest. This is an introductory rock climbing trip designed specifically for first time climbers.

We will spend the day together learning the basics of rock climbing in an outdoor venue in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

A short hike from the trail head will land us at our destination: a beginner-friendly cliff face near Seattle, WA. We will review our climbing gear and learn how to use it properly as we gear up for the day. Each climber will be equipped with a helmet, harness, belay device, biners, rock shoes, chalk bag, rope and quick draws.

Before we get started, we will learn how to properly tie climbing knots and belay fellow climbers. We will discuss important safety procedures and learn how to catch another climber in event of a fall. Additionally, we will learn how to use climbing commands to facilitate communication with one another throughout the day.

This is a very hands-on rock climbing experience. You will have plenty of time to put your newly acquired skills into practice. We will take turns climbing and belaying on at least 5-6 routes. Each route has its own unique features and provides us with an opportunity to practice different climbing techniques.

We will use a top-rope as we navigate the rock faces and cracks of this venue for added safety. We want you to feel safe and secure as you climb for the first time.

Those who have experience climbing indoors and want to try outdoor climbing are also welcome to join us. You will even learn what you need to know to pass a belay test at an indoor climbing gym by the end of the day.
