Ghorepani, at the foot of the stunning Annapurna mountains,  is one of the most famous trekking destinations in the world. Annapurna is a goddess of abundance and this 11-day magical Ghorepani trek is the perfect way to see her jewels.

We begin our trip in Kathmandu. There, you will have plenty of time to visit some of its beautiful temples. Then, we will take a plane to Pokhara where you can go on a short boat ride. On the following day, we will begin our trekking to Ghorepani. Along the way, we will see magical waterfalls and go through deep forests. We will also be surrounded by red and purple Rhododendrons, Nepal’s national flower. Additionally, we will have some stunning views of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre. We will also get a chance to watch a beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas!

Because this is a short trip, prior trekking experience is not necessary. Although there are some challenging spots along the route, all in all, it is an easy trek that you will enjoy. Also, we are well known for the efficiency of our logistics which should make things all the easier for you. This does not mean, however, that you won’t require a good level of fitness to tackle the ascents and descents.

After, we will take the trail that follows the main street of Birethanti, going through bamboo forests and past a large waterfall and swimming hole. Beyond a pasture used by pony caravans, the trail reaches Sudami where we will have Lunch. After lunch, we will climb steadily up the side of the valley , reaching Hile at 1495 m near by Tirekhedhunga. • Day 5: Tirkhe Dhunga - Ghorepani (2855 m)

On day 5, we will start from Tirkhe Dunga on a trail that crosses a stream on a suspension bridge near the camp site. The trail ascends a steep stone staircase to the large Magar village Ulleri at 2070 m. Above the village,  the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields. There, we will walk through a rhododendron and oak forest. There is a hut with water and a small camp site about 1 hr above Ulleri. The trail crosses two sparkling streams before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti. At Nangethanti we will stop for lunch. From Nangethanti we will then climb to Ghorepani at 2850 m.

  • Day 6: Ghorepani - Poon hill - Tadapani

After an early 5 AM wake up call, we will start the climb to Poon Hill (3195 m) where we will watch a beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas. After sunrise, we will return to our camp or Lodge for breakfast.

After, from Ghorepani we will go south on a muddy path through the deep forests. We will emerge to a grassy opening which offers good mountain views, including views of Machhapuchhre  and all the way south to the plains of India. Then, we will climb along a ridge through pine and rhododendron forests to a top of 3030 meters and then descend to a second pass also called Deurali, at 2960 meters.
The ridge will hide the mountains as we make a steep descent on a narrow path alongside a stream which will  finally turn into a series of waterfalls over a jumble of boulders. The steep descent will then become more gentle as we reach Banthanti where we will stop for Lunch.

From Banthanti, we will follow the stream down to a bridge where the trail ascends. We will leave the moist high mountain forests and enter a field of cane, until we reach a vantage point “Tadapani” (2540 meters) that offers a view of the mountains.

The descent will then continue gently past over streams, finally leading out on the ridge to Ghandrung. Ghandrung is a big Gurung village at 1940 meters, and is full of closely-spaced, slate-roofed houses. The town offers stunning views of Annapurna South as well as of Machhapuchhare. ACAP has a visitor center and an office in Ghandrung the offers information about its activities.
