Description

Sitting on Slovenia's northwestern border with Italy, Mangart Saddle is a popular ski touring destination in one of the most interesting parts of the Julian Alps!

Our adventure in the Mangart and Ponc mountains begins from Bovec-Predel road. From here, we start by ascending along the road before branching off and heading through a mountain pasture along the righthand side of a stream.

After awhile we will rejoin the road, staying on it intermittently and occasionally heading off into the wilderness.

Finally, we will arrive at Mangart Saddle. From here, we will enjoy some stunning views of the Julian Alps in both Slovenia and Italy before beginning our descent back to the trailhead.

Along with the views, the descent is the highlight of the trip. We will ski down various mountain passes and through some sparse forests before arriving back in the valley.

Overall, the skiing is not too challenging and the views will be plenty rewarding!

So what are you waiting for? Book now for this fun and exciting 1-day ski touring trip to Mangart Saddle in northwestern Slovenia!

Aspirant Guide

I am an aspirant IFMGA mountain guide, born in 1987, from Vuhred, now living in Ljubljana, Slovenia. I have been discovering mountains from an early age. I started climbing at the age of 15 and now it has become a way of life.

During my active years as an alpinist, I have been on four expeditions to the Andes, Himalaya and China and I was nominated for the Piolet d’or for the ascent to Xulian Feng in China.

I like all types of alpine activities such as alpine climbing, sport climbing, ski touring, etc. Overall I like to spend my time in the mountains. That is why I decided I not only want to climb for myself, but to guide other people, so they can experience what I have until now.
My mission as a mountain guide is to provide you the safest way to discover mountains, so that you can explore the vertical world in a different way. I will guide you to more or less populated mountain trails and climbing routes.

This was a great trip. It was challenging enough to be interesting but easy enough for all the family. The option of staying in the hut after lunch for those not wanting to do the summit worked well. Igor was great. thanks

All the entire process to booking was very easy from choosing the trip to descending back in town in safety and they are amazing team, because I have a tone of questions and they have a tone of patience. Thanks again, guys! I will return for via ferrata on Triglav.
