Join a unique tour to Montserrat Natural Park and Monastery near Barcelona and enjoy an enriching historic and cultural experience, as well as lovely views and time in nature.Following a 50-minute drive from Barcelona, our first stop will be an 11th century Benedictine Abbey, home to Catalonia’s Patron Saint, the Black Madonna; a strong symbol of spirituality and unity for the local people.
After this first stop, we will hike up to the top of a mountain and catch stunning views of the Natural Park and of the rest of Catalonia. Below us will span the Mediterranean Sea, the country’s main valley, and the Pyrenees further away, drawing the border with France.
During the hike, we will walk along the ancient paths used by pilgrims hundreds of years ago. Additionally, we will admire Montserrat’s fascinating flora and fauna. Furthermore, we will explore unique paths where rocky pillars and ravines will show us how mysterious inner water emerges from the hidden and undiscovered very center of the massif.
Back down in the Monastery area, we will have some free time where you can browse regional products in the local farmer’s market before we head back to Barcelona.
This is not a demanding program. In total, we will spend 2 to 3 hours of moderate hiking, therefore, you need to be fit. Also, keep in mind that I offer these tours in English, German, Spanish, Catalan, and Basque. Lastly, you can hire me for a private tour or join a group any day you like.
Don’t miss out on this unique chance to discover the culture and nature of Montserrat. I look forward to guiding you!

I was born in the Basque country, and have barely stopped moving ever since! A real nature lover, I have lived in Denmark, Germany, Austria, and Ecuador working in International Commerce. I am the proud owner of a Degree in Business Administration, as well as being an official Hiking and cycling guide.
I live in Barcelona, where I´ve discovered that welcoming people and showing them around is a natural response to all the hospitality I received during my years of travelling around the world. Travelling and getting to know new cultures is one of my biggest motivations in life.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
