Highlights

  • Experience Mount Fuji without the summer crowds.
  • Summit and return in a single powerful day via the Fujinomiya Route.
  • Tackle Fuji in off season conditions with colder temperatures and increased alpine exposure.

Description

An early fall ascent of Mount Fuji offers a completely different experience from the standard summer climbing season. Between late September and October, the crowds disappear, the mountain infrastructure closes, and the terrain begins transitioning toward winter conditions. What remains is a serious alpine objective requiring proper equipment, strong fitness, and respect for the mountain.

Snow usually arrives after mid-October, so it may or may not be present depending on weather conditions, but temperatures and wind exposure can resemble winter conditions. Climbers must be prepared for cold temperatures, strong winds, and potentially icy terrain.

This is a one day summit push via the Fujinomiya Route, starting from the 5th Station, provided road access is open. We depart early from Kawaguchiko, ascend steadily to the summit, and return the same day. The following day is reserved as a weather backup to maximize summit success and ensure safety in unpredictable mountain conditions.

Unlike summer climbs, there are no vending machines, no open mountain huts, and no roped off tourist paths. This is Mount Fuji in a more natural state, quieter, more exposed, and more demanding.

If you are physically prepared and motivated to experience Mount Fuji under authentic alpine conditions, this early fall ascent offers a rewarding and serious challenge.

What an incredible adventure on Fuji-san! 🗻✨ Kento, our tour guide, is truly one of a kind. ❤️ He turned climbing Fuji-san into such a special and unforgettable experience. He celebrated every milestone with us, kept motivating us when things got tough, and supported us in every way he could — both mentally and practically. At one point, he even carried one of our fellow hikers’ backpacks to make the climb a little easier for them. Because the weather forecast for our originally planned two-day ascent wasn’t looking very promising, we decided to take the chance and climb Fuji-san in one day instead. And we made it! 🥹💪🏻 Reaching the summit and being rewarded with such breathtaking views was a moment I will never forget. Our night in the mountain hut was wonderful, too. And then, the next morning, came another unexpected gift: a fairytale sunrise. 🌅 None of us had expected it. The weather also held up during our descent, allowing us to enjoy the incredible scenery and views all the way down. For that, I am truly grateful. ❤️ But what touched me most was seeing how genuinely excited Kento himself was throughout the whole experience — how happy he was to make these moments possible for us and to share his home with us in such a special way. His warmth, enthusiasm, and genuine joy made this journey even more meaningful to me. Kento, thank you from the bottom of my heart for this unforgettable adventure. 🗻❤️ It was truly a gift to experience Fuji-san and your home with you.
