Description

Located within the Rila mountain range of Bulgaria, and the Rila national park, Mount Malyovitsa (2,729m) is a fantastic peak. And during the winter season, which is when we will scale the mountain, it looks beautiful when draped with powder.

We will spend 2 days hiking to the summit of this magnificent mountain. And midway through the trip, at the end of the first day, we will spend the night at the Malyovitsa hut. The hut will provide you with a comfortable place to rest. Thus allowing you to recharge for the following day's hike to the summit. The area around the hut itself is beautiful and is well worth some exploration, which you will be given ample time to do.

On the second day of the trek, we will hike for approximately 6 hours until we reach the summit of the mountain. Once there, you will be given all the time you need to gaze in awe at the incredible scenery. From the snow capped peaks of the Rila mountains to the snow covered forests and frozen lakes below, the sights you will get to enjoy are nothing short of amazing.

Since this hike involves scaling a mountain, participants should be in good physical condition. Also, some previous mountain hiking experience is recommended as well.

Mount Malyovitsa is one of the most thrilling peaks to climb in the Rila mountains. And over the course of 2 days, you will get to make your way up to its summit. From there you will get to enjoy the vastness of the entire Rila mountain range. So if you would like to join me on this exciting journey, just send me a request, and I'll be happy to guide you.

I can also lead you on another 2 day hike to the summit of Mount Musala.

Mountain Leader

Hello all, my name is Zhivko, and I am an IFMGA Mountain Guide from Bulgaria, a member of the EEMGA. I am working as a guide full time, not only in my home country but also in a lot of different areas abroad, covering all the aspects of mountaineering: rock and ice climbing, summer and winter mountaineering, glacier travel, ski touring and splitboarding, etc.  Apart from that, I am also a mountain rescue instructor and a snowboard instructor, and I organize different group and individual activities or educational programs.I mainly work with personal trips on demand, but am into different options, and you are very welcome to meet me on any of them.

I think that Zhivko is absolutely brilliant in his role: always providing professional insight and mental support. I am sure I would have never made it to the top had I not been assisted by an experienced guide. Zhivko was very mindful throughout the entire duration of the challenge - e.g. advising on proper way of stepping, breathing, clothing etc. I would like to emphasise not only his great knowledge of practicalities related to hiking and climbing, but also fantastic psychological and social skills, showing respect to both: the environment and fellow hikers/ climbers. I've received a feedback following the completion of my 'mission' which will surely help me in the future. It's apparent that Zhivko loves what he is doing for living and he does what he loves rather than simply earning money. Absolutely fabulous experience!

Mountain guide Zhivko is a very nice, experienced and open minded guide who made me feel safe on our trekking. I am a beginner and he patiently guided me through the inspiring natural winter beauty of Rila Mountain on snow shoes. He prepared everything perfectly and made the trip 100% customized to my wishes. The area is breathtaking and remote in wintertime. We went to the Ivan Vasov hut and did not meet anyone on the way. Shortly: highlly recommended for nature lovers :)!
