Description

This 3-day trek in the Dolomites from Passo Giau (2236m), near Cortina d’Ampezzo, to Passo Cibiana, takes you to discover spectacular views of the Dolomites unique rocky formations and landscapes.

During these days, we will be hiking along scenic mountain paths, staying in refuges at the heart of the mountains. Our hike begins on the first day from Passo Giau, following an attractive and varied route of ups and downs,  with beautiful panoramic views. We continue to the spectacular Pelmo Massif until we arrive to the Rifugio Città di Fiume.

On the second day, we will be trekking on a path with a partial panoramic view of Mount Pelmo, with short ups and downs, on scenic mountain
paths, before descending to 1500 metres to the Zoldo valley, reaching the Rifugio Talamini where we spend the night.

Finally, on the third day, we climb up from the refuge through a forest and past montain streams in the beautiful Cadore valley, enjoying 360 degree views over Monte Rite. If you wish, we can also visit the Messner’s mountain museum before descending to Passo Cibiana. You can check the detailed itinerary below!

We also have the possibility of staying at the Rifugio Dolomites on top of Monte Rite and descend the next day to Passo Cibiana, making it a 4-day progam.

Itinerary

Day 1: Passo Giau - Rifugio Città di Fiume

An extremely attractive and varied hike starting at 2236 metres at Passo Giau, involving highly
panoramic short ups and downs over two mountain passes to the Croda da Lago massif and the Forcella Ambrizzola, before turning back slightly to continue towards the striking Pelmo Massif, on undulating mountain paths.

Elevation: 600 metres down, 300 up / 5 to 5.5. hours / Accommodation: Rifugio Città di Fiume, 1 night.

Day 2: Passo Giau - Rifugio Talamini

A highly panoramic partial circuit of Mt. Pelmo with short ups and downs following scenic mountain paths, before descending to 1500 metres to the Zoldo valley.

Elevation: approx. 800 metres down, 500 up / 7 hours / Accommodation: Rifugio Talamini

Day 2: Rifugio Talamini - Passo Cibiana

From Rifugio Talamini we climb up again now through a forest and past montain streams in the beautiful Cadore valley, enjoying 360 degree views at Monte Rite and a chance to visit Messner’s mountain museum before descending to Passo Cibiana.

Elevation: 600 metres of up and down / 5 to 6 hours /

*It is also possible to stay at Rifugio Dolomites on top of Monte Rite and descend the next day to Passo Cibiana.
