Mammoth Lakes Basin (2740m) is every rock climber’s dream. With literally hundreds of single pitch routes to suit every level from beginner to advanced, this climbing venue located on the backside of Mammoth Mountain is hard to beat.
Horseshoe Slabs, Sunshine Wall, Wavy Gravy Wall, North Face, East Face and Dike Wall are just a few of the vertical walls waiting to be scaled within this one-of-a-kind outdoor playground, which is also a popular hiking and camping destination during the summer months.
With its many climbing routes, the Mammoth Lakes Basin is suitable for rock climbers of all levels. Traditional, sport and top rope options are all available. An ideal spot to spend the day climbing solo or in the company of family and friends.
Plus, the adventure doesn’t have to end when you put away your climbing gear at the end of the day. Laid-back Mammoth, CA is full of friendly restaurants and breweries waiting to welcome wary climbers after a long day out on the mountain. Kick back and enjoy a meal and drinks as the sun goes down over this mountain town.
Be sure to visit Black Doubt Brewing, our favorite local watering hole, before you leave town.
Want to experience the climber’s life in Mammoth? We’ll be waiting for you here in the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Request to book and join us on the mountain.
I also lead day trips to nearby Clark Canyon, a fun, off the beaten path volcanic rock climbing venue.
