Description

I invite you to immerse yourself into magical winter landscapes, snowshoeing for 2 days among lonely, vast forests, in between farms, surrounded just by the silence of winter.  The dinner in front of the crackling fire and the overnight stay in the yurt complete this unique tour in the Jura Mountains.

The journey to the Jura plateau in the Vallée du Joux, in the canton of Vaud, already makes us fell that time seems to stand still here. Les Charbonnières, the tiny village where the famous Vacherin Mont d’Or cheese is made, is a quiet place, perfect for gentle nature experiences.

Soon the village is behind us and we are walking through endless, almost limitless forests, and we are finally close to France. The border is not rigid and we pass it again and again without being aware of it each time. We hike on the snow through peaceful and silent landscapes, discovering wide snow-capped forests.

We arrive to a large clearing in the forest where is the rustic yurt where we will spend the night are. We make ourselves comfortable and warm  up in front of a crackling open fire.  Now it’s time to enjoy a simple and delicious candlelight multi-course dinner, typical from the region.

The next day, we will have the opportunity to climb to a nearby summit on a simple round trip, with light luggage, enjoying wonderful views. We return to the yurt for a short stop before we start snowshoeing towards the Vacherin village, through a different route, slowly leaving behing the silence of the forest.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
