Snowshoeing is a fun activity for everyone to enjoy. It has been part of mountain culture, particularly in the Alps, for centuries, playing a major role in the development of early civilizations and their lifestyles. First conceived for hunting and gathering in the winter months, snowshoes have evolved into modern movement tools that we can enjoy today in a variety of ways – even recreation.

Your program is designed for just that – giving you a fulfilling day out in the snow and appreciating the incredible scenery in the Zurich area. We will be exploring Toggenburg, a stunning Swiss region with a deep connection to history and the land. The valley includes amazing mountain views while strolling past quaint architecture.

You have the option to travel through a variety of terrain, all within the safe guidance and instruction. My local knowledge will help us find the best views and sights while taking in the unique nature of the Swiss Alps. By beginning our tour at 10:00am, we will have the morning and afternoon to get lost in the blanketed beauty of the snow. It is a delight to meander through the charming area. You will undoubtedly find yourself at peace every step of the way.

I will also teach you some basic snowshoeing techniques. Along with learning to walk properly on the equipment, you will learn about its development over time and I would be happy to share some tricks and techniques that I’ve picked up from the sport.

All are welcome to join. It is an activity that requires a general fitness level and a passion for the snowy outdoors. Once you get on the snow, you will understand why snowshoeing is such an amazing experience, particularly in the Swiss Alps surrounding Zurich and Toggenburg.

I had am amazing time during the 1-day off-piste training course at Hoch-Ybrig. Urs, our main mountain guide, was very helpful in answering my queries before the course, and Lupe from explore-share was helpful in selecting the course. We had 3 groups under Urs, Mario and Patrick, and I was in the group with Patrick. He gave us a lot of nice tips and individualized video analysis. He made a special effort to convey everything in English, since I don't know German. All the participants were very helpful and friendly too! The course is good value for money as skis are included for the weekend in the course price.
