Description

Join me for a 4-day splitboarding adventure off the beaten tracks. We will explore almost the entire surroundings of Mount Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia (2864 meters high).

The Mount Triglav National Park is the only protected area in the country. It is a varst terrain with amazing mountain peaks and valleys.

The itinerary goes across the Julian Alps, from Bohinj to Mojstrana. We will spend the nights at mountain huts (cost of food and accommodation is around 100€ for 3 days and nights).

Although it’s recommended to have some previous splitboarding experience, you don’t need to be a great snowboarder. Skiers are also welcome to this trip.

As a local mountain guide, I will be in charge of your safety. And I will be happy to share with you many stories and information about this beautiful region.

If you want to have a better idea about this trip, please read this nice story about 2 french skiers who joined me for a several days ski tour in winter 2016 in the National Park of Mount Triglav.

Depending on your time and wishes, you can also choose a 3-day or 5-day splitboarding trip. However, according to my experience, 4 days is the ideal duration.

Please contact me if you are interested, I will be glad to take you on an unforgettable adventure in Slovenia!

Or, if you want to check other options in the area, please have a look at my Vogel off-piste snowboarding in Triglav National Park or my 1+day splitboarding tour in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia.

Mountain Guide

I am a IFMGA certified mountain guide, ski instructor, and sports teacher.

I believe guides do their best job when they guide in the mountains they are most familiar with. That is one of the biggest reasons why I specialize in guiding in Slovenia. I climb Triglav more than 25 times per year, which means I have climbed the most famous peak in my country around 400 times.

If you want to climb or ski in the Slovenian mountains, I am the right choice. I guide via ferrata, rock climbing, snow climbing, ice climbing, hikes, freeride skiing, and ski touring. Most of my summer work involves climbing Triglav, and most of my winter work involves Triglav and ski touring around it.

Slovenia offers good options for all of these activities, so you are welcome to take a look at my trips and find something for yourself. If you don't find anything, let me know, and I will see if I can help you!

I speak English. Ich spreche auch ein bisschen Deutsch. Parlo anche un po' di Italiano e hablo también un poco de Español.

If I am not available to guide you, one of the super experienced guides in my team will be your guide.

The tour exceeded our expectations in terms of wilderness, adventure, variety of terrain, views and being almost alone in this great national park. Mitja is a fantastic guide with exceptional knowledge of the Julian Alps, how to navigate all the risks and where to find great snow conditions. I have done many adventures and this has been one of the best.

We booked a weekend trip to summit the Triglav. Mitja was very kind and helpful from the start (even before the trip, he was very responsive and helpful through e-mail). We were kindly picked up early in the morning and brought back the second day. Mitja was very communicative from the start, checking in if we we're doing okay and if the pace was good and answering all our questions. We could tell that Mitja had a lot of experience in the mountains and as a guide, which made us feel comfortable and safe from the start. It was great to have two guides at the summit as we we're a group of three. This was our first experience summiting in the winter and it was a great one. Thank you so much Mitja and team for making this amazing experience possible!

Mitja was an amazing guide and especially a great companion on this tour. Mitja was easy to communicate with when planning the trip, well reflected about conditions and honest about best possibilities on how to spend these days in Slovenia. Mitja is a caring character giving all of us a feeling of beeing welcome on the tour. He adjusts his walking & skiing to group capabilities and is flexible with any planning - you get the feeling that it is "your tour". He knows the terrain extremely well and will share a lot of information about the surroundings. He took us to amazing sunsetting spots just next to Triglav Mountain for a last decent of the day and is only one of two guides having stored equipment in the remote mountain hut in the middle of Triglav National Park. Mitja is fun and communicative and easy to get a connection with. However he also leaves space for any character and does not try to "entertain" continuously which we highly appreciated. We can absolutely recommend and to reach out to Mitja for any trip in the Alps and in Triglav National Park especially. All the best from Germany, Lukas & Martin

Actually, due to the weather conditions, there are no ice for climbing. Mitja was very nice to offer us other options. We chose hiking in snow near Vogel instead. Mitja was very nice and professional. He provide sufficient gears and useful advice. Walking in snow was hard to balance, and the wind was very strong upside. But the view was magnificent and worthy. It was a very unique experience!
