Famous for being one of Chile’s most active volcanoes, at 2,847 meters above sea level, Villarrica presents a challenging climb. Join me to its summit on this thrilling 2-day mountaineering expedition!
Located near the Chilean city of Pucón and rising above the lake and town by the same name, this perfect cone shaped stratovolcano has become very popular among climbers from all over the world.
Our starting point will be the charming city of San Martin de los Andes in Argentina. From there, we’ll transfer to the Lanin Volcano. Depending on the participant’s wishes, we may either ascend to the refuge area of this volcano and then return back to the vehicle (3 hours) or directly continue on our way to Chile. Once we arrive to Pucón, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner where we’ll discover the typical cuisine and flavors of this region. Then, on the following day, we’ll drive early in the morning to the base of the Villarrica Volcano. For a more detailed description of the trip, take a look at the itinerary below!
I will be there every step of the way to make sure participants are having fun and are safe at all times. However, I recommend this trip to intermediate climbers only. Furthermore, it’s essential to be in good physical condition.
This Villarrica Volcano adventure is the ultimate mountaineering experience! So if you are interested, send a request to book your place and get ready to explore this magical Patagonian treasure!
And if you are looking for more challenging adventures in Patagonia, you can also join me on this Lanin Volcano 2-day guided ascent!
We’ll leave San Martin de los Andes early in the morning and drive 100 km to the Lanin Volcano.
According to the participant’s wishes, we can explore this volcano and ascend to the refuge area which will take us 3 hours approximately. Once we finish, we can continue our journey to the Chilean town of Pucón.
Once we arrive, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner where we’ll discover some of the typical culinary delights of Patagonia.
Our activity will begin around 7 am. From our accommodation, we’ll drive 15 km to the base of the Villarrica Volcano. Once we are all set, we’ll begin ascending and it will take us about six hours to reach the mouth of the large crater which is 315 m in diameter. After enjoying this unique and amazing show, we’ll descend to the vehicle and return back to San Martín de los Andes.

I had a very good experience booking the hike through Explore-Share. Communication with the team was prompt and clear and the booking process was seamless. The trip itself was also just perfect. Uroš was a fantastic guide, highly skilled and talented. The hike felt safe at all times, even on more exposed routes, thanks to him. He was always up to date on the weather forecast and planned the days around it, checked the conditions on the route ahead of me, if needed, discussed and adapted the routes to my level and always made sure I was safe and comfortable. I highly recommend him, as well as Explore-Share.

Explore Share is a really usefull website that has a great overview of reviewed guides for a (in our case) hiking/climbing trip. During the booking I got assigned an assistent for Explore Share that helped solve questions that I might have. Great customer service, and I will come back again.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned a lot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!

It's the 2nd time we have been booking with Explore-Share. The booking was super easy and both Explore-Share and the guide were fast in their responses. We did rafting as a family with 3 kids for the first time in Slovenia. The guide (José) was super nice. He was doing everything he could to make everyone at ease with rafting (he gave clear explanations), have a great team spirit (we were joined by 2 other girls) and have a good time. We had lots of fun and the nature there is so beautiful. Thank you Explore-share and Soca splash for the great afternoon! I would recommend this activity to anyone without a doubt. My kids immediately told me they want to do rafting again soon !"
