Perfect for beginners to rock climbing that still want an adventurous experience, this half-day trip at the Hidden Rocks in Virginia will not just meet, but exceed whatever expectations you may have.
A short drive from the city of Harrisonburg, we will make our way to the George Washington national forest. From there, we will take a brief, but wonderfully scenic hike to the sandstone Hidden Rocks cliffs. Once there, we will introduce you to the necessary climbing equipment. That equipment includes helmets, harnesses, knots and the crucial belay system. After a few warm-up climbs, you will then progress to more difficult, and ultimately more exciting climbs.
During the latter portion of the climbing trip, you will then have an opportunity to enjoy a thrilling rappel. Approximately 60 feet in the air, you will get to enjoy the unique feeling, while also enjoying fantastic views of the wilderness of Virginia.
Along with the Hidden Rocks, there are other great locations to choose from on this trip. And where we go will depend heavily on what is most convenient for you. For example, if you are in Luray or northern Virginia, we can go to the Waterfall mountain in the Massanutten range or the Little Stoney Man. And if you are coming from south Virginia, in places like Roanoke or Lexington, we can go to Goshen Pass that is high above the Maury river.
With so many options, no matter what you choose, you will have a great experience. So if you are looking for a great rock climbing adventure in Virginia, just send me a request. I look forward to guiding you.
