Intermediate
This course is separated into 2 parts. The first day will focus primarily on learning several important skills. Meanwhile, the second day will focus on putting those recently learned skills into practice on multi-pitch climbing routes.
Potential spots for the first day’s course include the Index Town Walls, the Snoqualmie pass, Exit 38 or a route in the North Cascades National Park. After establishing our camp, we will begin practicing. The skills learned during the first day include climbing equipment selection, safety check system, multi-pitch climbing communication, introduction to anchor building and much more.
For the multi-pitch climbing on the second day, participants will belay guides as they lead the route. Guides will then belay each participant from the top as the students remove protection while climbing. After participants have reached the belay, they will assist the guide with racking gear, managing the belay and setting up rope for the next pitch. From the top, you will get to enjoy some magnificent views. Afterwards, you can either rappel back down to or walk back to the base.
Participants should have prior rock climbing experience and be in good physical condition.
If you have ambitions on climbing peaks like Mount Shuksan and the Forbidden peak, among others, you have to learn how to do so properly. And on this 2 day course, our intention is help you learn and hone those skills. To participate, just send us a request.
We also offer a longer, more extensive 4 day version of this course as well.
