The ascent to this peak of Mount Olympus in Greece usually takes at least 2 days. The descent to the base takes approximately 4 hours. Although Mt. Olympus has several peaks, many of the mountain climbing trips to this mountain imply two main ascents before conquering the summit. The Skala Peak (2866 m) and Mytikas, the highest point (2918 m).
The way is perfectly signposted and it is impossible to get lost. Vegetation, weather and difficulty increase as we ascend. The higher we hike, the vegetation disappears and the slope becomes steeper. The most challenging part of the climb of Mount Olympus is when we approach the Skala peak. Once there we just have to cheer up a little more until we are at the highest peak in Greece: Mytikas.
At sea level the weather is hot and dry in summer, and humid and cold in winter. As the height rises, the weather is wetter and hostile with more intense phenomena, such as abundant snow in the winter.
