Description

It is amazing just to see the mythical Mount Olympus (2,917m), also known as Mount Mytikas, home of the 12 ancient Greek Gods led by Zeus. But actually ascending the incredible peak and staring at Greece from its summit is even better. And over the course of 3 day exciting days, that is exactly what you will get to do.

While massive, Mount Olympus is actually full of beautiful and lush flora. The lead up to the mountain even has a gorgeous forest, which we will hike through.  However, once we reach the mountain itself, the hike will have some difficult spots. As a result, participants in this trip should have some prior hiking experience. And they should also be in good physical condition. In addition, because the area near the summit is exposed, some scrambling is required, so this trip is not suitable for people with a fear of heights.

While the first day of the trip will be a rather easy and comfortable 2.5 hour hike, the second day is much more demanding. However, despite the nearly 7 to 8 hours of hiking the rewards are plentiful. The view you will have of Mount Stefani (2,902m) from the Muses Plateau (2,720m) is incredible. Also, the views you will get to enjoy from the summit of Mount Olympus of the landscape below are spectacular.

The summit of Mount Olympus is the highest point in the country. And the panoramic views you will receive not only from the summit but throughout the ascent of the mountain are the best in Greece. So if you want to spend 3 days scaling and standing atop the mountain that housed the Gods, just send me a request.

Are you looking for another hiking trip that last longer, and covers more ground? If so, I can also lead you on a 9 day hiking expedition that will take you from the Rila and Pirin mountains of Bulgaria to Mount Olympus of Greece and back again.

Mountain Leader

Hello all, my name is Zhivko, and I am an IFMGA Mountain Guide from Bulgaria, a member of the EEMGA. I am working as a guide full time, not only in my home country but also in a lot of different areas abroad, covering all the aspects of mountaineering: rock and ice climbing, summer and winter mountaineering, glacier travel, ski touring and splitboarding, etc.  Apart from that, I am also a mountain rescue instructor and a snowboard instructor, and I organize different group and individual activities or educational programs.I mainly work with personal trips on demand, but am into different options, and you are very welcome to meet me on any of them.

I think that Zhivko is absolutely brilliant in his role: always providing professional insight and mental support. I am sure I would have never made it to the top had I not been assisted by an experienced guide. Zhivko was very mindful throughout the entire duration of the challenge - e.g. advising on proper way of stepping, breathing, clothing etc. I would like to emphasise not only his great knowledge of practicalities related to hiking and climbing, but also fantastic psychological and social skills, showing respect to both: the environment and fellow hikers/ climbers. I've received a feedback following the completion of my 'mission' which will surely help me in the future. It's apparent that Zhivko loves what he is doing for living and he does what he loves rather than simply earning money. Absolutely fabulous experience!
