**Lying at the heart of the Julian Alps, Mount Triglav (2864 m) is the highest peak in Slovenia and the most climbed peak in the country.**

I propose to climb Triglav leaving from the **Soča valley**. We'll take a **direct route** which is one of the **fastest and steepest** ways to approach the summit of this iconic mountain.

The Soča valley is a beautiful region of northwestern Slovenia, that stretches from the town of **Nova Gorica** (in the border with Italy) to **Triglav National Park.**

Our 2-day climbing trip will begin and end at the village of **Trenta na Logu.** Then, we'll hike through **Zadnjica valley**, on an scenic and secluded scramble approach.

This route involves **climbing short via ferrata sections on rope** to overcome the most **exposed parts**, and exposed ledges that take you to the gully descending from the upper slopes just beneath the Dolič saddle. In fact, this is the lowest altitude that you rope-in of any access to Mt. Triglav.

After 5-7 hours, we'll arrive to **Dom na Doliču,** the mountain hut where we'll spend the night.

The following day we'll ascend a desert moonscape at 2500 m, before we go to the top.

Then, we can choose to descend the same way or forward to Planika hut or down to Kredarica. That way, we can make the whole traverse of Mt. Triglav ridge and hence a large circle.

In addition, there's a **via ferrata** that will take us to the summit of Mount Triglav and back.

Besides, we can visit the historic remains of the highest military post during World War I.

I recommend to do this trip in 2 days, so you can enjoy the hike and the surrounding landscapes. Nevertheless, it's possible to do it in just 1 day, but you have to be a super fit person (it will take between 12-16 hours).

Direct climb to Mount Triglav from Soča valley

**This is one of the longest, most beautiful and enjoyable Slovenian ridge traverse. I guide it every year. Would you like to join me this time?**

For 3 days, we'll be traversing some of the most beautiful and remote ridges in the **Julian Alps.** I like to call this trip _Slovenian 'Peuterey' ridge traverse_, like the famous (and longest) ridge climb in the Alps.

First, following the hunters trail, we'll climb **Mt Goličica (2108 m),** which is a feat in its own. Once at the top, we'll take the exposed and steep ridge line over the slopes and walk up and down. On the way, we'll be exploring the changing paths of wild animals and admiring the beautiful sights.

Mostly, we'll be facing **technical difficulties up to UIAA grade V.** However, we can also make it even harder by taking the direct route (UIAA VI+).

We'll continue traversing the ridge to **Mt Planja,** enjoying breathtaking views. Then, we can descend either towards Kriški podi Hut, the **Zadnjica Valley** and **Trenta** through a nice and easy scenic route, or towards **Mlinarica Valley**, where we'll climb an interesting via ferrata in descent.

If you wish, we can extend this traverse to the top of **Mount Triglav.** For that, we'll climb **Mt Bovski Gamsovec** and descend towards **Luknja pass**. This is one of the most fascinating ridge ascents to the top of the highest peak in the Julian Alps, rising at 2864 m.

**There are several routes to climb Mt Triglav (2864 m), the highest peak in Slovenia. In this programme, I propose to leave from Zadnjica valley.**

The **Zadnjica valley** is a short valley that begins at **Trenta village** and develops towards east. This will be the starting point of our hike.

For 5 hours, the road will lead us through very interesting paths called _muletiera_, which are roads from the First World War.

Then, we'll arrive to **Dolič Hut**. From there, we have 2 or 3 hours of hike until we reach the top of **Mt Triglav.**

**The last hour to the top is the most technical and challenging**, because some parts of the route are quite exposed. However, they are safe due to the still rope. In fact, the route is also appropriate for beginners.

From the top of Mt Triglav we will return to the Dolič Hut, where we'll spend the night. The following morning, we'll descent back to Zadnjica valley, on a 3 to 4 hour hike.

We'll decide whether to reach Triglav's summit on day 1 in the afternoon or in day 2 in the morning, depending on the weather and physical preparation of the group.

**Mount Triglav (2864 m) is the highest peak in Slovenia and also a powerful symbol of the country. Join me on this 3-day hiking trip to the top!**

I propose to begin our hike in **Lepena Valley**, a stunning alpine valley inside **Triglav National Park.** More precisely, our starting point will be **Dom dr. Klemena Juga** **hut.**

From there, we'll continue hiking towards **Krn Lake**, the largest glacial lake in the country. Along the way, we'll see remains of the First World War.

After spending the night at Dom na Komni hut, we'll traverse around the **Seven Triglav Lakes Valley.**

Finally, the third day we'll reach the top of **Mt Triglav**. The last hour of hiking will be the most technical and challenging, because some parts of the route are exposed. However, you'll feel safe and can use the help of a still rope.

Then, after reaching the summit of Triglav, we'll descent to Zadnjica valley.

We start our hike in Lepena valley, from the Dom dr. Klemna Juga. We continue on a wide marked path in direction of Krn Lake, from where we continue to Bogatin saddle. During our hike we will see the remains of the First World War. From the Bogatin saddle we descent to Dom na Komni, where we stay over the night.

After the breakfast we start the hike and continue to the Seven Triglav lakes valley and from there across the Hribarice pass to the Dolič Hut.

We start from the Dolič hut and to the top of Mt Triglav. The last hour is the most technical and challenging, because some parts of the rout are exposed but still safe because of the still rope and also appropriate for beginners. From the top of Mt Triglav we descent to Zadnjica valley.

3-day hiking trip to Mt Triglav from Lepena Valley

**I invite you to climb Mt Triglav (2864 m), the highest peak in Slovenia, leaving from the Soča valley, one of the easiest ways to approach this famous peak.**

We’ll start and finish our hike at the same point: the village of **Trenta na Logu.** From there, we’ll continue to **Zadnjica Valley** and upwards through an scenic historical route with remains of the First World War. Then, we’ll spend the night at **Dom na Doliču.**

The following day, we’ll ascend a ‘moonscape’ at 2500 m before we go to the top. We can descend the same way or forward to **Planika hut** or down to **Kredarica.** That way, we can make the whole traverse of Mt. Triglav ridge and hence a large circle.

In addition, there is via ferrata from the hut to the summit of Mount Triglav and back. There’s also an option of visiting the historic remnants of one of the largest and highest military posts.

Even though this route can be done in 1 day, this is only possible if you are super fit (it takes from 12 to 16 hours). I recommend to do it in two days, so you can really enjoy the hike as well as admire the beautiful landscapes.

This route to Mt Triglav is far from the major (and usually more crowded) paths. It’s also a very steep route to the top.
