**Join an amazing 10-day Svaneti Hiking Adventure and discover some of the most stunning spots in Georgia!** 

On this unforgettable trek, we will cover around 100km on foot. The path will take us through the historical villages of Svaneti, where we will meet the locals and hear their stories. We will also enjoy traversing through some of the stunning landscapes of the Caucasus mountains and catch sight of waterfalls and glaciers.  In the evenings, we will have the chance to taste original Georgian food and listen to local folk music.

To start our adventure, we will pick you up at the airport and spend one night in the city before heading to the start of our hike at Etseri Village. Over the course of ten days, we will hike to different villages in Svaneti and explore some of the amazing mountainscapes as well. You can find a detailed itinerary below.

Every day we will hike around 10 to 20km. Therefore, you will need a good fitness level to join this Svaneti hiking adventure. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you on the way!

Meeting in airport, transfer to the city and spend a night there, (Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi)

Transfer to village Etseri, this village is the first location where our hiking begins. Overnight in Etseri.

From Etseri we will start trekking to  Mazeri village, 14 km, 6-7 hours, elevation +/- 700m, highest point +/- 2400m.  
Overnight in Mazeri.

Mazeri

Shdugra waterfall and Glacier is located to the north-west side of Mazeri, on the foot of mount Ushba, 18 km,  
7-8 hours, elevation +/- 600m, highest point +/- 2400m. Overnight in Mazeri.

On the fifth day, we will move to Mestia over Gulli Pass, Gulli is an old village which is ruined almost a century ago. 19km, 9-  
10 hours, elevation +/- 1300m, highest point +/- 3000m. Spend a night in Mestia.

Mestia

On this day we will move to Zhabeshi Village over Kakhri pass from Mestia, 12km, 5-6 hours, elevation +/- 500m, highest point +/- 2000m. Spend a night in Zhabeshi.

Zhabeshi

Hadishi is the village where you can really feel the old Svanetian lifestyle, architecture, and culture. 14km, 6-7 hours,  
elevation +/- 700m, highest point +/- 2400m. Overnight in Hadishi.

This day is one of the most interesting for every visitor, after 5 km of walking in the valley towards Hadishi glacier, we have to cross the Hadishchala river on horseback.

18km,  
8-9 hours, elevation +/- 750m, highest point +/- 2800m. Spend a night in Iprali.

Last day of the hike, we will move to the highest inhabited village in the EU, Ushguli, aka “The Roof of Europe”.

10km, 4-5 hours, elevation +/- 250m, highest point 2200m. Transfer to Mestia and huge Georgian dinner together. Overnight  
in Mestia.

10-day Svaneti Hiking Adventure in Georgia

**Would you like to enjoy one of the best ski experiences of your life? Then ski touring in Georgia is a must for you, and this 1-week program in Svaneti will take you on some of the most unforgettable rides you can experience.** 

We will set off from Mestia. Each day, we will head to a different mountain or location. Tetnuldi, Koruldi, Lamaria, Detsili, Chalaadi Glacier, and more are some of the places we will visit. You will not only experience the spectacular mountains and snow of Georgia, but also the warm welcome of its people. Additionally, you will have the chance to experience the rich local culture. Keep in mind that prior ski touring experience is necessary in order to join this tour. Furthermore, a good fitness level is a must as we will spend long hours in the mountain. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you, and also to share my favorite local spots with you.

This first day is a warmup day in Tetnuldi ski resort. We will check out off-piste conditions and do a short climb with skins at the end of the day. The atmosphere at the foot of the glaciers is great and gives you an idea of what’s awaiting you for the coming week.

Tetnuldi

In the morning, we leave from Mestia to  Tskhumari village, which is the base of mount Laila. We will skin up from 1400m above sea level. From there, the skiing area goes up to 3400m so it depends on the group’s motivation to reach the top or finish somewhere on a good spot.

Laila Pass

We will start skinning in Mestia at an altitude of 1500 m until we get to the hut where we’ll spend the night, a renovated wooden hut where you’ll really feel you’re in Georgia, beside the fireplace.

Koruldi Mountain

From the mountain hut, we will start skinning and climb up to 3700 m above sea level to the Chalaadi glacier. This is one of the best places for powder skiing in Svaneti. A long descent will take us back to the valley.

Chalaadi Glacier

In the early hours of the day, we will set off for Ushguli, the highest inhabited village in Europe (2200 m), close to the border with Chechnya. In this place out of this world, you will be warmly welcomed by the locals. We’ll ski one of the several valleys that open up to us to reach our guesthouse and well-deserved dinner.

Situated between upper and lower Svaneti, we’ll go and admire the views that the highest mountains of the Caucasus have to offer us. At the end of the day, we take a shuttle to Mestia.

Svaneti, 1-Week Remote Ski Touring in Georgia

**At 4,858 m (15,938 ft), Tetnuldi is a prominent peak in the central part of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range, located in the Svaneti region of Georgia. It is one of the most beautiful mountains in the region, and the locals have dubbed it the “Queen of the Caucasus”. On this 9-day guided climb, I will take you to its summit and share all of my knowledge of the region with you!**

After getting picked up at the airport, you will be transferred to Mestia, where our adventure begins. Before setting off to the summit of Tetnuldi, we will enjoy a day of acclimatization and training, and it’s all uphill from there. However, this is not a climb for beginners.  The slopes of Tetnuldi are glaciated, generally about above the 3,000-meter line, so you will need prior mountaineering experience to join. You can find a detailed itinerary below.

Keep in mind that you will need to have an excellent fitness level. Additionally, you will require ice climbing and high altitude camping skills. Being comfortable and knowing how to use the equipment is also important for this ascent. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you every step of the way!

Arrival

Transfer to Mestia. Meeting with the guide, equipment check, and short briefing about the route  
and its details. Overnight in Mestia.

After an early breakfast, we will drive up to an altitude of 3000m above sea level. From there, we will start  
hiking to the Tetnuldi basecamp at 3700m. The hike to the basecamp is around 4-5 hours and  
it’s a 700m vertical drop. Overnight in a tent.

Acclimatization and training day. We will climb up to 4000m and the guide will explain how to walk in rope correctly and how to act when someone is in danger on the glacier. Overnight in tent.

Acclimatization and training

We will start climbing at 03:00 in the morning, the route usually takes 7 to 10 hours roundtrip,  
depending on the guests’ physical shape and route conditions. After the climb, we will come back to the  
basecamp and spend a night there.

Summit day

Reserve day for bad weather or additional acclimatization if needed.

Descend to the point where we left our shuttle, transfer to Mestia. Overnight in Mestia.

Transfer to the airport

Tetnuldi, Queen of the Caucasus 9-day Guided Climb in Georgia

**At 4,710 m (15,450 ft), Ushba is one of the most stately mountains in the Caucasus. Due to its shape, it’s earned itself the nickname of “Matterhorn of the Caucasus”. Join an amazing 8-day guided climb to its breathtaking summit.** 

On this mountain climbing program, you will have the chance to experience the unique mountain culture of Svaneti, in Georgia. After picking you up at the airport, we will transfer you to Mestia, a beautiful mountain townlet with a rich history and culture. From there, we will set off on our way to the Ushba summit. You can find a detailed itinerary below.

Keep in mind that Ushba is graded Difficult: D / UIAA – IV. Therefore, this program is for climbers with prior ice climbing and mountaineering experience.  Additionally, you will need to be in good mental and physical shape to tackle the climb. You will also need to be familiar with the equipment. Of course, I will be there every step of the way to help and guide you.

Meeting in Tbilisi or Kutaisi airport – Transfer to Mestia (approx. 5/8 hours of driving). dinner and overnight at a hotel in Mestia.

Breakfast at the hotel, drive to Mazari village (approx. 30 minutes). There the main luggage will be packed on horses and transported straight to Shdugra waterfall. After 3 or 4 hours, we will reach the Shdugra Waterfall, take our backpacks, and hike for around one hour to “Akhotnichi” BC.

We will go from the Base Camp to Camp 1, Lower Plato, at an altitude of 4000m. (6-hour hike)

We will wake up at 3 am. After breakfast, we will begin our ascent to the summit of North Ushba at 4690m. (Apx. 6-8 hours). After, we will descend to C2.

Summit Day

Extra day in case of bad weather. 

We will descend from Camp 2 to Mazari village, and transfer to Mestia. Overnight in hotel.

Back to Mestia

Tbilisi or Kutaisi airport, from there, you will be transferred to Mestia.
