This tour will take you on a 3-day circular hike of Mount Olympus, all the way to the Mytikas summit, the highest point on Olympus at an altitude of 2198 m (9584 ft).

This 3-day tour will allow you to truly experience and enjoy your Olympus hike. You will have time to rest between hikes amd we will take two different routes, one to the summit, and another on the way back.

We will spend two nights in mountain huts, with sunrise views, explore the Zonaria Trail, pass below the Throne of Zeus, reach the Mytikas summit, pass the Laimos ridge, and explore the Muses Plateau.

Although everyone is welcome to join, a good fitness level is a must. Additionally, you will need to be comfortable with heights as some scrambking is involved on the way to the summit. Of course, we will be there to help and guide you!

Circular Hiking Tour to the Summit of Olympus Mountain

This trip takes you to Mytikas (2918m), the highest summit on the Olympus massif in just 1-day. It is specially designed for those that may lack the time to carry out the [traditional 2-day trip with an overnight stay in a refuge](https://www.explore-share.com/trip/olympus-summit-guided-hike-mytikas/) and is also an ‘easier’ experience to the summit.

This trip involves the use of a 4x4 vehicle, which will take us through a dirt road high up to Chrystakis emergency refuge at an elevation of 2550m. From the refuge, we will start our hike on an easy trail, which will take us in approximately 1 hour to the summits of Skolio and Skala. Once we arrive at Skala peak (2875m), we will put on our gear to tackle the final stretch of our ascent to Mytikas (2918m) (1h – 1.5h). Skala peak is the starting point of the popular Kakoskala trail (one of the two available routes to the summit). After enjoying the view from the summit, we will return via the same route.

Keep in mind that although this tour welcomes mountain climbing beginners, and that we will follow a relatively easy route to the Mytikas summit, you should have an average fitness level and be capable to trek/walk for 3-4 hours without any problems. Furthermore, you should not be afraid of heights, or have any other known health problems (particularly related to the myoskeletal system).

6.30-7.00 am - We meet in Litochoro's central square.  
9.30- 10.00 am - We arrive at Chrystakis refuge. We gear up and our trip starts.  
11.30-12.30 am - We enjoy the view from Greece's highest peak, Mytikas (2918m). We spend enough time resting and taking photos.  
12.30-13.00 pm - We head back via the same route to our car.  
15.00-15.30 pm - We arrive at Chrystakis refuge where we embark on our vehicle and head back to Litochoro

Mount Olympus Easy Trail to the Mytikas Summit

This 1-day climb to the Olympus summit is designed to take you from the Spilios Agapitos hut to the top of Mytikas, the highest point in Greece!

Most Olympus programs start from Prionia (the trailhead to the hut) and take at least 2 days. However, if you would like to make your own hiking arrangements to the hut on your own, then we offer you the chance of hiring a guide only for summit day, in order to ensure your safety on your way to the top.

We will meet you directly at the hut and go over the day's itinerary as well as check gear (plus provide you with a helmet and rope), and then we will set off. In total, it will take us around 6 hours to get to the summit of Mytikas from Spilios Agapitos and back. We also offer the option of tailoring the itinerary in case you would like to explore some other hut options.

After breakfast at the mountain hut, you will meet your guide at the scheduled time. You will go through a short trip briefing and equipment check (we provide a helmet and climbing harness) and set off for the Mytikas summit!  
  
Summiting Mytikas from the Spilios Agapitos hut usually takes around 3 hours up and then another 3 hours back to the hut. During the final part of the climb to the summit that requires scrambling, you will always be attached to the guide’s rope and offered advice and guidance.  
  
Once at the summit, you will have time to rest, grab a bite, and of course, admire the view and take all the pictures you want.  
  
The activity will end back down at the hut, and you will take the same route to get there.  
We can also arrange a different itinerary if you would like to stay in a different hut.

Climbing to the Olympus summit is an obtainable goal and one that you should definitely aim for if you are in Greece. The highest point of the country is renowned for its mythological and natural value.

On this 2-day hike, we will climb to the top of Mytikas (2918m/9574ft) with an overnight stay at Spilios Agapitos hut. On average, we will hike around 4 hours the first day and 8 hours the second. covering a total distance of 18km and an estimated 1800m altitude gain. It will be an exciting adventure that will allow you to enjoy the full splendor of Olympus under the guidance of a professional that will not only show you the way but also keep you safe.

The program starts and ends in Litochoro, from where we will drive to the trailhead in Prionia. You can find a detailed description of the itinerary below.

Please keep in mind that you will need a good fitness level to join this tour. You should also be comfortable with heights. During the last stretch of our climb, we will use a rope, harness, and helmet (which we will provide) to scramble up to the Mytikas summit.

Our day will normally begin in the morning at 9.30 in Litochoro’s central square. After a short briefing about our day’s hike, we will drive towards the trailhead (Prionia 1100m) (20-30 minutes).  
  
In Prionia, we will park our car and prepare our gear for the hike. Prionia is the highest point which can be reached by car (it is 18 km from Litochoro).

We will take the route from Prionia (1.100 m) to Spilios Agapitos Refuge (2.1000 m), the most frequented hiking path on Mount Olympus and part of the E4 European trail.

The trail is in good condition and mostly through a shady forest. We will constantly move uphill to the Spilios Agapitos hut, at an altitude of 2.100m. This legendary resting spot is surrounded by impressive age-old Bosnian pine trees. We will enjoy a good meal and a good night's rest, and prepare for summit day.

We will enjoy an early breakfast with a view at 5.30 am, on the hut balcony.

At 6.30, we will leave the hut following the European E4 trail away from the forest towards and alpine zone. This relatively steep trail is quite popular and offers a magnificent view of the whole eastern region of Olympus.

In approximately 2 or 2.5 hours we will reach Skala peak at 2866m, where we will t stop for rest and prepare our gear (helmet and climbing harness) to summit Mytikas. From Skala (2866m), we can catch sight of Skolio peak (2911m), Agios Antonios peak (2815m) and of course, Mytikas peak (2918m).

  
Kakoskala is the name of the ridge that we will follow on our way to the summit. In approximately 1 hour of partly technically, easy scrambling will make it to the top of Mytikas at 2.918 m. the highest peak in Greece! During the ascent, you will be attached to the guide’s rope and offered advice and guidance.  

Later, we will begin our descent back to the refuge, via the same route, and normally will arrive there by 12.00-12.30 pm. Once at the hut, we will rest and have lunch before hiking for a couple of hours back to Prionia. Then, we will drive back to Litochoro with an amazing memory as a souvenir.
