Join me on this epic 1+ day backcountry hut skiing expedition through the sparsely populated and beautiful Sun Valley, Ketchum, Idaho, and we will traipse and travail through one of the great wild frontiers of the country, where the captivating toothed ridges, mesmerizing glaciers and open valleys remain pristine and untouched by crowds of people.
Sun Valley is a resort city in Idaho located near the city of Ketchum, and the ski conditions around this area are regarded as being some of the best in the Northwest USA due to its flawless and immaculate powder, the relative lack of crowds compared to its more illustrious neighbors in nearby states, and also the absence of howling winds.
We meet in Hailey, Idaho, where safety equipment and information is dispensed, before heading off to the various huts and yurts dotted around the three majestic mountain ranges which tower over the area, the Sawtooth range, the Smokee Mountains and the Pioneer Mountains.
Each day will be spent setting off from these various huts, as they allow us to ski around and explore the awesome and epic slopes and mountainsides available to us, the idyllic and tranquil ridges and valleys taking the breath away, with vivid colours and amazing views in abundance – you will be reaching for your camera seemingly constantly!
As an added bonus there are relaxing saunas in each of the huts, which are perfect to help recharge for our backcountry skiing every day.
We finish up back in Hailey, having completed a truly unique experience.
