Description

Tucked away in the far north west of the United States lies the breathtaking Mount Hood National Forest in the state of Oregon, close to the city of Portland.

Running south of the Columbia River Gorge, the national forest extends for more than 60 miles. Stunning lakes and trickling streams, forest-carpeted mountains and dormant volcanoes flurried with snow.

Join me here for a 1-day ski touring course that gives you everything to pursue your backcountry adventure.

Discover the fundamentals of backcountry skiing, from how to use binding and skins, basic avalanche beacon and shovel skills, proper equipment for skiing, transitioning in different snow conditions, and techniques for skinning uphill and downhill.

You’ll also become aware of the common errors made, and how to interpret avalanche and weather bulletins.

Our action-packed course, which should last for approximately 6 hours, will be instructed in the northeastern section of the Mount Hood National Forest.

Potential participants need to be a skier of at least an intermediate level who can negotiate tree runs. And your fitness level should be able to endure sustained and strenuous exercise.

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!

Nate was very knowledgeable and got me to the top of mountain. He’s not as engaging as most of the guides I’ve had over the years. I’ve learned a lot about most of my climbs as guides talk about the mountain and the area maybe even plant and animals and I enjoy getting to know them better. We did talk a bit more on the way out of the trailhead. All in all a good experience. But not sure your company told him I had a knee replacement and would be slow.
