1-day trek to Achen-Ñiyeu Volcano

I want to invite you to a 1-day trek to the Achen-Ñiyeu Volcano, in the beautiful Patagonia! Come and discover this amazing place in the south of Argentina.

First, we'll skirt Laguna Verde, 65 km from the city of San Martin de los Andes. Then, we'll enter a forest of colihues, cohiues and other native species. We'll walk along the trail until we see the Achen-Ñiyeu volcano in front of us.

The trek continues through volcanic sand and remains of slag, lava flow turned into rock. It was channeled through an ancient glacial valley, about 450 years ago.

The entire trek will take us about 8 hours. Once we're at the base of the volcano, we can climb to its summit. It will take us about 1.30 hours. Or we can either go to Cascada del Portezuelo, a beautiful waterfall.

Then, we'll return by the same path, but now with the spectacular sight of the Lanin Volcano in front of us. It's the most stunning mountain in North Patagonia.
