Discover the incredible mountains in Slovenia on this stunning 2-day trip to the summit of Mount Triglav, the highest point in the European Alps. Join me for some real mountaineering in Slovenia!
Located in the Julian Alps, Mount Triglav, at 2864 meters, is the highest peak in Slovenia. It is so iconic it even appears on the national flag. On this trip, you will discover why it is so impressive.
For two days, we’ll experience this amazing mountain landscape surrounded by alpine plants and flowers. We’ll climb through long rock trails and enjoy the lovely views. There are no ropeways or lifts so as not to contaminate the sacred mountain. The ascent is a beautiful mountain hike with a technical and rocky finish near the summit. As this is a summer ascent, we will enjoy dry conditions and terrain without snow.
We’ll meet in Bled or somewhere close to the beginning of the trailhead. Bled is a charming and touristy town in Slovenia surrounded by peaks of the Julian Alps. You’ll definitely want to check it out before or after the trip.
Additionally, if you wish to stay in the mountain for a longer period of time, I can also organize a 3 o 4-day trip. Just let me know in your message.
Join me to climb the most iconic and beautiful peak in Slovenia on this 2-day program. Book your place now for this unforgettable experience. I would love to be your guide!
If you are looking for more mountaineering experiences, be sure to check out the trips I offer to Mount Triglav or Mount Fuji.
Meeting point
We’ll decide on a meeting point and hour, preferably close to Bled. Then, we’ll follow the trail head to a mountain hut near Mount Triglav summit, where we’l spend the night. Duration of 4-6 hours.
If the weather conditions for the following day do not look ideal, we may aim to reach the summit this day.
The original plan is to reach the summit this day and go down through the trail head.
Ascent: 3-4 hours.
Descent: 3 hours.
More info
Make sure to bring warm clothes, mountaineering gear and good climbing shoes. Skill level: beginner to intermediate. Fitness level: Fit, able to climb 4-6 hours, 1500 meters (5000 feet) on day 1, and ascend 400 meters and descend 2000 on day 2. During weekends and holidays, this program is 150 EUR higher per group. Special service: ascent and descent on a different route can be discussed. Climbing with children less than years old is not recommended. There is usually no snow anymore on the trails, it is beginners to intermediate level ascent; you’ll just need proper hiking shoes and some warmer clothing as it is a high mountain and could be windy and cold at the summit. There are 3 main trails to the huts below the summit:
What time does the trip start?
Pick-up usually takes place early in the morning, around 6:00 AM. However, the exact time can vary depending on the weather forecast and other logistical factors. Your guide will confirm the timing with you the day before.
Where is the meeting point?
Pick-up and drop-off are included free of charge within a 25 km radius of Bled, or from any nearby train or bus station. If you're staying farther away (between 25–50 km), transportation can be arranged for an additional cost (typically €50–€100 one way).
Is the trip suitable for beginners?
Yes, the route is rated for beginner to intermediate climbers. No previous alpine climbing experience is required, but you should be in good physical condition.
How fit do I need to be?
You should be fit enough to hike for 4–6 hours, gaining up to 1500 meters (5000 feet) on the first day. On the second day, expect a 400-meter ascent and a 2000-meter descent.
Can children join the climb?
Climbing with children under 8 years old is not recommended due to the physical demands and terrain.
Is there snow on the trail?
There is usually no snow on the route from mid-June onwards. However, it is a high mountain, so conditions can still be cold and windy near the summit.
What should I bring?
Proper hiking shoes and warm clothing are essential. Even in summer, temperatures at the summit can be low, and strong winds are common.
Are there any extra charges during weekends or holidays?
Yes, the trip cost increases by €150 per group during weekends and public holidays.

Mountain Guide
I’m an international IFMGA mountain guide; also the first non-Japanese mountain guide certified by the JMGA (Japan Mountain Guide Association); born in Slovenia.
My country is small but well known in the world as strong in sports and mountaineering. I used to compete as Olympic team member and on World Cup competitions as a Cross-country skier. After I left Slovenia and traveled all over the world, I ended up in Japan. I married a beautiful native lady, and have lived here for 30 years. I love Japanese mountains and feel privileged to be able to enjoy these mountains through the entire four seasons.
I’m based at the foot of Japan Alps; convenient place in winter for ski touring from Nagano to Hokkaido, winter mountaineering or ice climbing at Yatsugatake, and of course ascending the symbol of Japan Mt.Fuji.
In summer Japan is a great place for hiking, alpine climbing or popular shower-climbing and some fine sport/free climbing year around.
Since 2013, I’m working on NHK (Japanese national TV) programs, introducing Japan culture and outdoor activities, climbing skiing etc.
It is my absolute pleasure also to take and guide you in my home country, Slovenia. In addition to guide in the mountains, I also enjoy having the opportunity to teach mountain climbing skills to every level of climbers, here in Japan. This is because I wish everybody to be SAFE on the mountains. Please contact me on E&S if you would love to have great experience, as well as a tailor-made plan for other mountains and sport climbing all over SE Asia, EU, South America....in any season!
