Discover the incredible mountains in Slovenia on this stunning 2-day trip to the summit of Mount Triglav, the highest point in the European Alps. Join me for some real mountaineering in Slovenia!
Located in the Julian Alps, Mount Triglav, at 2864 meters, is the highest peak in Slovenia. It is so iconic it even appears on the national flag. On this trip, you will discover why it is so impressive.
For two days, we’ll experience this amazing mountain landscape surrounded by alpine plants and flowers. We’ll climb through long rock trails and enjoy the lovely views. There are no ropeways or lifts so as not to contaminate the sacred mountain. The ascent is a beautiful mountain hike with a technical and rocky finish near the summit. As this is a summer ascent, we will enjoy dry conditions and terrain without snow.
We’ll meet in Bled or somewhere close to the beginning of the trailhead. Bled is a charming and touristy town in Slovenia surrounded by peaks of the Julian Alps. You’ll definitely want to check it out before or after the trip.
Additionally, if you wish to stay in the mountain for a longer period of time, I can also organize a 3 o 4-day trip. Just let me know in your message.
Join me to climb the most iconic and beautiful peak in Slovenia on this 2-day program. Book your place now for this unforgettable experience. I would love to be your guide!
If you are looking for more mountaineering experiences, be sure to check out the trips I offer to Yatsugatake or Mount Fuji.
We’ll decide on a meeting point and hour, preferably close to Bled. Then, we’ll follow the trail head to a mountain hut near Mount Triglav summit, where we’l spend the night. Duration of 4-6 hours.
If the weather conditions for the following day do not look ideal, we may aim to reach the summit this day.
The original plan is to reach the summit this day and go down through the trail head.
Ascent: 3-4 hours.
Descent: 3 hours.

More info Make sure to bring warm clothes, mountaineering gear and good climbing shoes. Skill level: beginner to intermediate. Fitness level: Fit, able to climb 4-6 hours, 1500 meters (5000 feet) on day 1, and ascend 400 meters and descend 2000 on day 2. During weekends and holidays, this program is 150 EUR higher per group. Special service: ascent and descent on a different route can be discussed. Climbing with children less than years old is not recommended. There is usually no snow anymore on the trails, it is beginners to intermediate level ascent; you’ll just need proper hiking shoes and some warmer clothing as it is a high mountain and could be windy and cold at the summit. There are 3 main trails to the huts below the summit: - from Pokljuka forest highlands; - Krma, deep U shape glacier made valley; - or Vrata valley, steep technical ferrata climb wit astonishing Triglav N-face views on the side. From each hut the trails to the summit are steep, climbing on rock, secured by steel cables - via ferrata. We always use rope between you and the guide for 100% safety. As this is a 2-day climbing trip, we don’t need to start really early in the morning, let say around 8am! After meet up, we’ll drive 45 min. by car, to one of Mt. Triglav’s trailheads. From there to reach the hut is 4 to 6 hours climbing. The huts are simple, but they serve hot meals until 8pm. In the afternoon, we take a rest or walk to the view points. Before going to bed, we check the equipment like harness, helmet and learn about rope up system. On Day 2 start is early, 5 to 6 am. The climbing on scramble terrain and sometimes narrow rocky ridge which is really amazing From the summit you can enjoy fantastic views: lake Bled, lake Bohinj, Adriatic sea, Dolomites, Austrian alps. Usually, on the descent we take the same route, although that will depend on weather conditions and takes about 3 to 5 hours to get back to the hut. After the short rest, we return to the valley and should be back at the car park from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Afterward, I’ll drive you back to your hotel or railway/bus station. Meeting point: I will pick you up at your accommodation. If you have your own means of transport, we can meet directly at the car parking close to our trail head (I will inform you the exact point). Equipment: for this ascent, you will need to bring your own proper clothing and own mountaineering shoes. We can rent backpacks, walking poles etc. 10 EUR/item, payable in cash directly to the guide after the climb. Please note we don’t rent shoes/boots. Food and drinks: You should take 2L of water, also sometimes is possible to buy drinks along the way at the mountain huts. Insurance: please make sure you are individually insured appropriately with international travel insurance which specifically covers hiking and mountaineering. Other: sometimes trip itinerary may be altered and/or date change can be discussed, case by case, based on the weather forecast. I will try to modify my schedule and we’ll do our best to make our guests happy. I would advise you to make your schedule flexible as well. The guide will choose different road approaches and climbing routes, time of the early morning start etc. Sometimes people will get light altitude sickness (dizzy, headache etc...) |

I’m an international IFMGA mountain guide; also the first non-Japanese mountain guide certified by the JMGA (Japan Mountain Guide Association); born in Slovenia.
My country is small but well known in the world as strong in sports and mountaineering. I use to compete as Olympic team member and on World Cup competitions as a Cross-country skier. After I left Slovenia and traveled all over the world, I ended up in Japan. I married beautiful native lady, and have lived here for 30 years. I love Japanese mountains and feel privileged to be able to enjoy these mountains trough the entire four seasons.
I’m based at the foot of Japan Alps; convenient place in winter for ski touring from Nagano to Hokkaido, winter mountaineering or ice climbing at Yatsugatake, and of course ascending the symbol of Japan Mt.Fuji.
In summer Japan is a great place for hiking, alpine climbing or popular shower-climbing and some fine sport/free climbing year around.
Since 2013, I’m working on NHK (Japanese national TV) programs, introducing Japan culture and outdoor activities, climbing skiing etc. Check it out at the link below the recent one about BC skiing.

It is my absolute pleasure also to take and guide you in my home country Slovenia. In addition to guide in the mountains, I also enjoy having the opportunity to teach mountain climbing skills to every level of climbers, here in Japan. This is because I wish everybody to be SAFE on the mountains.
Please contact me on E&S if you would love to have great experience, as well as a tailor-made plan for other mountains and sport climbing all over SE Asia, EU, South America....in any season!

An amazing day of rock climbing in beautiful surroundings with a hugely knowledgeable guide - highly recommended! Even with a difficult mix of beginners (me) and high-level climbers (everyone else), Cveto was able to set me up with routes that were fun, accessible and challenging. If you want to get into climbing in Japan, this is a great way to start.

Our climbing trip was amazing - despite being during the wettest & hottest season in Japan! Due to the weather, our original destination was not possible. Yet Cveto was able to quickly coordinate an alternative plan that would get us on the rocks. Both Cveto & Chiharu were highly communicative & responsive with us (as we planned our trip from Australia). Cveto himself was easy to get along with as well as being extremely knowledgeable. He helped us grow, both in terms of learning climbing skills and pushing mental barriers with lead climbing and rappelling. Overall a really enjoyable course with plenty of practical application of the new skills packed into the two-day course. We highly recommend Cveto for anyone looking to actually apply these skills on rock rather than practicing endlessly on the ground. We are hoping to travel next year to climb & learn with Cveto again.

Our family of four had the best time with Cveto. Our goal was to get our kids (ages 9 and 11) to the top of Fuji-san before the public open season and I don't think we could have done it without Cveto. Of everything we did during our 11 days in Japan, climbing Fuji-san was our favorite highlight. Cveto was communicative about preparations, gear, and weather before the trip and was the consummate professional during the climb. He even short-roped our 9-yr old during a period of altitude sickness.

Thanks again for the climb, the instruction, and the conversation. For me, this was one of those unforgettable moments in life and I sincerely appreciate your time and energy. You went above and beyond the call! Please also give my best to your wife. I know I was pestering her with questions and she relieved my anxiety! I woke up to a clear view of the mountain and still can't process that we somehow were up there and I couldn't have done it without both of you! Thanks!

Cveto guided my boyfriend and I up Mt Fuji. Our trip up was great, a beautiful day with good views. Cveto kept us at a good pace that felt comfortable and relaxed. We spent some time at the top admiring the view and the crater of Fuji. We skied/snowboarded down and had a fun adventure navigating the terrain. Cveto was safe and knowledgable and we were happy he was our guide! Thank you! Its a trip we wont forget!

Cveto is an exceptionally experienced guide. Akadake was a challenging climb for me but Cveto got me up and down the mountain safely and made it a lot of fun. He taught me some new crampon techniques that I was able to put to work immediately and they really helped with the steepness and deep snow on the mountain that day. He helped me with trip logistics as well, recommending a nice local lodge to stay at. His English was excellent and I would strongly recommend him as a guide.

Our Mount Fuji off season climb was wonderful; an experience that both Angie and I will remember the rest of lives. Cveto, our mountain guide, was superb. He is not only an expert in the field of mountain climbing that made us feel safe throughout the climb to the summit, but also a person that went beyond expectations to make the mountain experience memorable in every way. Cveto is not only an expert climber, but also an exceptional person with a carefree and adventurous personality. Thank you for making a dream come through for both of us. Best regards, Carlos & Angie

Amazing! Cveto was experienced, professional, & went the extra mile to check on me the night before to ensure I was prepared. He was encouraging but also realistic regarding conditions & limitations. This was my 1st climb (1st time seeing snow actually!) and as a beginner he was patient w/ me and gave clear instructions-I always felt safe. Highly, highly recommend! Reaching the summit was an unforgettable experience. Thank you for everything. -solo female traveler
