Description

Eager to get away from the resort crowds and into the backcounty?  Let me teach you how to safely navigate the backcountry during my 1-day splitboard course! We will enjoy pristine powder and untouched lines while experiencing the peaceful serenity that you can only find in the backcountry.

We will head to the Virginia Lakes backcountry in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains, an area that is accessible from Mammoth but seems lightyears away from the crowded resort slopes.  At Virginia Lakes, we will enjoy awesome open bowls and the steep lines of Dunderberg and Excelsior Peak.

This program is designed for intermediate to advanced resort snowboarders who want a knowledgeable guide to help them familiarize themselves with the backcountry.  It is important that participants are comfortable boarding on ungroomed or unpredictable terrain.  However, prior splitboarding or backcountry experience is not necessary.

During this day on the mountain together, you will have the opportunity to learn various splitboard touring techniques, important safety skills including avalanche awareness and rescue strategies, and backcountry navigation (using both map and compass).  You will learn the skills, techniques, and strategies that will allow you to safely enjoy the backcountry during all your future adventures.

We will spend the day in the mountains so that we can fully soak in the natural beauty and tranquility of nature.

Imagine yourself soaring down a mountain on your board without having to dodge the busy resort crowds.  If this appeals to you, sign up now for my splitboarding course and I promise you an amazing experience in the backcountry of California!

If you are looking for more unforgettable experiences in California, you can also join me on this 2 day guided climb of the East Ridge of Mt. Humphreys.](https://www.explore-share.com/trip/guided-climb-of-the-east-ridge-of-mt-humphreys-in-california/)[

We had an excellent time with Chad on our multi -pitch day in Joshua Tree. My partner and I have some experience climbing sport routes, but had no experience with trad climbing or multi-pitch routes. Chad is a great instructor and led our routes with ease. We felt confident in his abilities to keep us safe and have fun. Will definitely book again with him.

We booked through Ryan, and Daniel was our guide - absolutely brilliant, very down to earth and knowledgeable. The climbs themselves were awesome, with insane views. My partner is an experienced indoor climber, and I have close to no experience, especially outdoors, but still felt safe and in good hands. We did a half day, which was 5hrs, and got 4 climbs in, then stayed after the tour to walk around a bit more and have some snacks with a view (make sure you take food/water as there aren’t any shops inside the park). Definitely recommend.

Our guide, Spencer, was fantastic! He tailored everything to our exact needs, and we now feel equipped to climb outdoors without a guide.
