Description

Join us for a stunning 3-days ascent of the most iconic mountain of the Alps!

This 3-days program will help you to assess your abilities and train for the summit. We will be heading up to the summit of the Matterhorn, of course. Starting in Zermatt or Cervinia, we will meet up and take the lifts to Klein Matterhorn.

From there we’ll cross the glacier and reach the base of Central Breithorn or Pollux. After climbing one of those two 4k peaks we’ll head back to the lifts and down to Zermatt or Cervinia. The day after we’ll meet in Schwarzsee at around 1 pm. From here it is 1 hour and 30 minutes to Hörnlihut, where we will enjoy the view and prepare for the next day.

Waking up early in the morning, we will begin with the first fixed ropes as soon as we leave the hut. We will continue making our way up doing a mix of climbing and scrambling as we conquer the Hörnliridge. After about four hours we will make it to the top of the mountain and enjoy the summit, we will then head back down to Hörnlihut and after a quick lunch to Zermatt or Cervinia.

The whole descent from the summit to Hörnlihut takes about four hours. Climbing Gates: Hörnlihut - Solvayhut: 2 hours; Solvayhut - Summit: 2 hours. It will be mandatory for the group to respect the timetable of the gates for safety reasons. You must accept the decision of the guide to turn back if you are not respecting the timetable.

So what are you waiting for? Book now for an unforgettable alpine experience as we climb tothe summit of the Matterhorn, outside of Zermatt, Switzerland!

If you want to increase your chances to reach the summit with larger climbing gates, you can check our 3-days-Matterhorn-summit via-Hörnli-Ridge

FAQs

What is the best time of the year to climb this mountain?

The Hörnlihütte will be open from 28th June until 21st September 2025. So the best time to climb Matterhorn is in this period.

What technical-mountaineering skills are required for this Matterhorn ascent?

Excellent physical condition and involvement in sports, even at a non-competitive level

Previous experience on steep terrain

Successful completion of an Advanced internship with Adventure Dreamers or a similar mountaineering curriculum. For a comparison, you can refer to the specified article.

How fit do I need to be to climb Matterhorn?

Naturally, good physical fitness allows for faster progress.

Progressing above 4000m is more tiring than at lower altitudes due to the scarcity of oxygen.

If you have experience in mountain activities, including winter, and have already reached other 4000m peaks, you will be able to participate.

What exactly does the fee include?

The price includes:

  • 3 days with an alpine guide
  • Membership to the Adventure Dreamers group in your region, allowing you to participate in free self-organized activities with our members throughout the year.

However, it does not include nights and half-board in the huts, guide lunches, cable cars, transportation to the event locations, and the rental of ice axe, crampons, harness, and helmet.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

If the guide forecasts bad weather, the event will be canceled. If the guide decides to proceed with the event because they believe there is a high chance of success and adequate safety conditions despite the weather, the event cost will not be refunded. No refunds will be given if a group member is unable to reach the summit or if the guide decides to descend due to the group's abilities or the weather conditions.

Where will the Matterhorn climb take place?

The event will be held in the Matterhorn massif at the locations specified in the program. However, due to weather conditions, glacier conditions, and for safety reasons, the Alpine Guide reserves the right, at their sole discretion, to modify the program.
