Stretching from river Guadiana near the Spanish border towards a dramatic denouement in Sagres in the west, it leads all the way to the very tip of western Europe. Join us as we take you on this unique guided walking tour for 8 full days in Portugal.

What makes this tour epic is not just an exceptional route but also the balmy weather. It will be an excellent way of seeing the real Algarve as you tread these unforgettable paths which offer a glimpse of the rich tradition and culture of the area. The walk forms a part of GR13, European footpath network. The route is about 300 KM and we have hand-picked the best parts for you.

In addition to traversing scenic routes, we'll have all our dinners at popular local restaurants where you will relish authentic regional cuisine. After a good walk every day, each evening will unfold into an enjoyable social experience with a relaxed vibe.

We'll begin in the city of Alcoutim, which borders Spain and finish at Cabo São Vincente in southern Portugal. And we have taken utmost care to avoid crammed tourist spots and swapped them for unexplored regions. You will see iconic historic sights and spectacular scenery on the way.

The trip is designed in a flexible manner keeping in mind the needs and requirements of individual groups. Regarding difficulty, the walks can be as challenging or as relaxing as you want, so you don't have to worry.

It will be an experience like no other, we assure you. So, get in touch now to explore the region of Algarve on foot. Looking for a self-guided tour in Portugal? Check out this 8-day trip to Serra da Estrela Natural Park.

Explore Tavira and relax until evening meeting followed by a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Drive to Alcoutim

We’ll take a scenic drive to Alcoutim alongside the edge of the Rio Guadiana. Here, we’ll walk around a charming frontier village, facing its Spanish equivalent across the river. Our walk today will use the part of the GR13 called “Os encantos de Alcoutim” or ‘the delights of Alcoutim’, with the Rio Guadiana forming the centerpiece of the walk taking us through the orchards of almonds, figs and olives.

Day 3: Free Day

Relax and take walks.

Day 4: Head towards Barranco do Velho

Today we will travel to the hill village of Barranco do Velho. On the way we will stop
in S. Bras de Alportel, one of the main cork production centres in the region, and
appreciate some of the local traditional products. Today’s walk on the GR13 will take us to the village of Salir, through rich Mediterranean vegetation, including strawberry plants from which the famous “medronho” liqueur is brewed.

Day 5: Travel to Silves

Morning walk along the GR13 into the village of Alte, one of the most traditional villages
in the Algarve. Next, we’ll travel to Silves, the most historic town on the GR13 on the banks of river Arcade, with its Moorish castle rising above the town.

Day 6: Free day

Relax!

Day 7: Head towards Sagres

Today we will walk the final section of the GR13 in the “Parque Natural Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vincentina” to the cliffs of Cabo São Vincente. Lunch in Forte de Beliche overlooking the dramatic cliffs of the Sagres coast before walking on to Cabo de S. Vincente, popularly known as the end of the world.

To celebrate the end of our epic journey crossing the Algarve from the east to the west, we will visit the port of Sagres where we will enjoy the magnificent scenery and some well-deserved refreshments.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
