Description

I will guide you on this epic day of backcountry skiing at Sugar Bowl Resort, Lake Tahoe, where acres upon acres of fresh, deep snow provides us with the perfect playground to learn more and improve our backcountry skiing skills and techniques, and also explore the stunning and beautiful landscape, scenery and terrain of this veritable skiers paradise.

Sugar Bowl Resort, Lake Tahoe, is one of the oldest ski areas in the United States, and has a long and illustrious history, with its proximity to the Bay Area and Sacramento, as well as being a favorite haunt of Hollywood stars boosting its profile immeasurably.

We will meet in the morning, where all-important safety information and gear will be handed out, before we head out in to the wild backcountry.

Our expert guides local knowledge really enhances the experience of the day, as we are able to head to little-known spots that are well and truly off the beaten path, ensuring we encounter few crowds and have a more peaceful and enjoyable day.

There are relatively few uphill sections during the day, and this allows us to teach you about important skills and techniques in a more relaxed setting, as we go through tool packs, uphill and downhill techniques, how to choose the least-risky terrain to go on and how to use climbing skins.

Some of the scenery we will encounter will take the breath away, with the tranquil and idyllic tree-lined slopes framing a magnificent path down to the centerpiece of Lake Tahoe, providing numerous opportunities for fantastic photos!

We finish in the afternoon hopefully having given you a day to remember, and an increased appreciation and passion for backcountry skiing and the Lake Tahoe area.

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!

Nate was very knowledgeable and got me to the top of mountain. He’s not as engaging as most of the guides I’ve had over the years. I’ve learned a lot about most of my climbs as guides talk about the mountain and the area maybe even plant and animals and I enjoy getting to know them better. We did talk a bit more on the way out of the trailhead. All in all a good experience. But not sure your company told him I had a knee replacement and would be slow.
