Description

I will take you on a truly unforgettable day of backcountry skiing, as we go around the uncrowded and underrated region of Mount Shasta in California, a vast and expansive area that provides pristine and perfect conditions for backcountry skiing, as well as superb sweeping views over the California landscape.

Mount Shasta is an active volcano located in the Sierra Ranges, in the far northern part of California, and is the 5th highest peak in the state. There is deep and fresh powder for long stretches of the year, as well as abundant sunshine, and the scenery includes large tracts of forest, rocky valleys and endless stretches of snowy plains.

Meeting in the morning in the town of Mount Shasta, we will initially be briefing you on the appropriate clothing and equipment to wear, as well as basic backcountry skiing skills and techniques, and avalanche safety and weather awareness.

We will then head out on to the mountain, where we will traipse and travail around the picture-perfect backcountry. Due to its relatively low-key reputation, crowds are sparse in the region, allowing us to ski at a peaceful and leisurely pace, depending on the skill level, as there is little of danger of too many people crowding the areas.

We then finish up back in the town having successfully navigated this Northern California slice of skiing paradise.

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!

Nate was very knowledgeable and got me to the top of mountain. He’s not as engaging as most of the guides I’ve had over the years. I’ve learned a lot about most of my climbs as guides talk about the mountain and the area maybe even plant and animals and I enjoy getting to know them better. We did talk a bit more on the way out of the trailhead. All in all a good experience. But not sure your company told him I had a knee replacement and would be slow.
