After flying into Lukla, we will begin our approach by trekking along the Dudh Kosi, ascending 700 meters through Himalayan pine forests until we reach Namche.
We will take an acclimatization hike in the morning and spend the afternoon exploring Namche.
We head to Thame for an interesting day in which we visit the home of lead guide, Lakpa Rita Sherpa, an experience rarely afforded to trekkers.
As we continue to hike toward Island Peak, we will pass through amazingly beautiful scenery as well as the villages of Khund, Khumjung and Tengboche. Along the way we will be sure to enjoy some amazing views out into the Himalayas.
We climb up to the village of Pheriche, where we will visit the world-famous, high-altitude clinic to learn more about the effects of high altitude on human physiology.
Heading out of Pheriche, we will visit Lobuje and spend the night. The next day we will hike through the high tundra and over a glacial moraine to Gorak Shep. Then we will ascend roughly 200 meters to the summit of Kala Pattar and enjoy excellent views of Everest among others.
From Gorak Shep, we cross the moraine and Khumbu glacier to reach Everest base camp, before heading down to Lobuche. From here we will hike to the Lobuche East High Camp before ascending 700 meters to the peak’s summit and getting a close up view of Everest and several other iconic mountains.
After returning to the Lobuche East High Camp, we will head to Chhukung and Island Peak Base Camp. The climb then begins with a 300-meter scramble up the Imja Tse glacier. We then finish the climb up the southeast face to reach the summit.
