Description

Want to take your splitboarding skills to the next level? Our one- day tour in Mt. Shasta is the perfect opportunity for experienced riders who are looking for new challenging adventures!

With a summit of 14,125 feet (4321.8 m) above sea level, Mount Shasta is the fifth highest mountain in the State of California and the second highest of the Cascade Range. This potentially active volcano in northern California is also one of the world’s preeminent sacred mountains.

The day before our adventure, we’ll arrange a meeting, define our itinerary and make sure all participants have the necessary equipment. Then we’ll set off and ascend through the Avalanche Gulch Route. This is the easiest and most popular way to climb Mount Shasta. Finally, we will descend down its east side, through the Hotlum-Wintun Route which as the name implies, separates the Hotlum and Wintun Glaciers. However, skiers and splitboarders may find that there are many other possible routes and all of them offer up to 7,000 feet of challenging and exciting terrain.

Because this is a challenging excursion, we recommend this trip for experienced riders. Additionally, it is necessary to have an excellent fitness level. Moreover, skills in ice axe, crampons and rope will be necessary to reach the summit. And if you’ve participated in any Splitboard or Ski Mountaineering Clinic before, you’ll enjoy this trip even more.

This trip will be operated by one of the 3 permit holder outfitters: Shasta Mountain Guides, Alpine Skills International and SWS Mountain Guides.

If you are looking for more challenging experiences, you can also join us on this Sierra Nevada High Route guided splitboarding week.

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!

Nate was very knowledgeable and got me to the top of mountain. He’s not as engaging as most of the guides I’ve had over the years. I’ve learned a lot about most of my climbs as guides talk about the mountain and the area maybe even plant and animals and I enjoy getting to know them better. We did talk a bit more on the way out of the trailhead. All in all a good experience. But not sure your company told him I had a knee replacement and would be slow.
