Come with me on this 1-day hike and explore a fantastic natural area in the main island of Madeira, from Machico to Porto da Cruz.

On this hiking program, we’ll depart from the beautiful city of Machico, on the eastern coast of the island, and follow a trail to Porto da Cruz. We’ll go along the Levada do Caniçal and reach the viewpoint of Boca do Risco, from where we’ll get to see spectacular views of the island’s north coast. During the whole program, we’ll catch amazing sights of the surroundings and relax in the middle of a beautiful landscape.

As we move forward on the hike, we’ll notice that the difficulty of the trail increases. Keep in mind that we’ll cover a distance of 12 kilometers during the hike and spend 3-5 hours walking. Also, we might face some narrow sections on the last part of the path. Therefore, it’s important to have a good level of fitness and prior hiking experience.
