Description

Would you like to discover the fantastic mountains of Madeira? Then follow me on this 1-day program from Pico do Areeiro to Pico Ruivo and live an unforgettable experience in Portugal!

At 1861 meters above sea level, Pico Ruivo is the tallest mountain in the Madeira archipelago and the third in the country. To get to the top, we must cross the third peak in Madeira Island: Pico do Areeiro, situated at 1818 meters of altitude.

On this program, we’ll follow the path that connects both mountains and cross incredible landscapes. On the way, we will catch great views of the nearby valleys and the massif. Also, we’ll go across caves and tunnels and have the chance to contemplate part of the gorgeous local birds and vegetation.

As for the level of difficulty, consider that the hike is moderate with a duration of 2-4 hours and that we’ll cover a distance of around 5 kilometers. The elevation gain will be around 300 meters and we’ll face a demanding section on the last part of the hike. Therefore, it’s important to have a good level of fitness to take part in this trip.

So, does this activity sound attractive to you? If so, then don’t hesitate to send the request and make your reservation. It will be a pleasure for me to be your guide on this adventure in Portugal.

I also offer a day hike to Ponta de San Lourenco in the region, check it out!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
