Description

El Franciscano Lagoon trekking tour is the perfect 1-day getaway to enjoy Santiago's surroundings!

El Franciscano Lagoon (also called Laguna Piuquenes) is a mild hike just outside Chile's capital, Santiago. At 3600 meters above sea level, this mountain lagoon hides behind the top of La Parva ski resort.

In the heart of the South Andes, surrounded by elevated mountains, the path to El Franciscano Lagoon will conquer you! Because of its location, you'll appreciate an amazing panoramic view of Santiago, the Central Valley and the surrounding high summits!

Probably one of the most famous peaks around Chile is in plain view: El Plomo (5424m), the highest peak that we can see from Santiago. It's one of several mountains with ceremonial value to the prehispanic Inca civilization. It's considered to be an ancient religious centre, and part of the extended Inca Trail.

El Franciscano Lagoon area is also famous for its wildlife. Home to a huge diversity of birds, it's specially attractive to look for the rare Andean fox: the Zorro Culpeo.

I'll come by your hotel to pick you up. And in a bit more than an hour we'll be walking through an easy path up the ski runs of La Parva ski resort. We'll enjoy a magnificent view all the way up! And from the top you'll be able to spot the beautiful lagoon, surrounded by an amazing scenery, while we walk down to it.

So please let me take you to this hidden jewel of the Andes! Let me know if you want to come along to this El Franciscano Lagoon trekking tour! And if you feel like hiking for a few more days I can offer you a 3-day Maipo Valley Trek or even a 9-day San José Volcano ascent.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
