The hiking trail takes us through alpine landscapes in the central part of the Bavarian Alps, with some cultural highlights, two of the most well-known and visited places in Germany: the Neuschwanstein Castle and the city of Garmisch.

The Neuschwanstein Castle was built by the the “Mad King” Ludwig II of Bavaria on a rugged hill against a backdrop of picturesque mountain scenery. It is one of the most visited castles in Germany and a very popular tourist attraction in Europe. You will be amazed by the view of this fairy-tale like castle.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Day

Arrival at Stuttgart airport. Reception of travelers and transfer by road to accommodation. Programme presentation.

Day 2: Mittenwald - Hiking to glacial lakes

From the small alpine town of Mittenwald, boasting houses with wall paintings and birthplace of the most prestigious German string instruments manufacturers, we will see the spectacular rock walls of the Karwendel massif. On this day, we will combine the visit to this beautiful town, with a middle level route: the ascent to the glacial Lautersee and Ferchensee glacial lakes, from where we can enjoy incredible alpine landscapes. Then we will take a bath in the crystal clear waters of Lake Ferchensee, a real luxury!

Day 3: Newschwanstein Castle - Alpsee Lake

A mid-level mountain route takes us to the famous Newschwanstein Castle, built by the “Mad King” Ludwig II of Bavaria. From this place, we will make a beautiful walk that connects Mount Tegelberg with the famous Mary’s Bridge, in front of the Neuschwanstein Castle and then we will descend to the shores of the Alpsee lake, with calm and crystalline waters. From here we have lovely views of two of the castles of King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

Day 4: Partnachklamm - Garmisch Partenkirchen

In the vicinity of the well-known ski jumps trampoline of Garmisch – famous for the competition that is held every year on January 1st- a natural treasure is hidden: the spectacular and narrow gorge of the Partnachklamm, 80 m deep. Here we can enjoy a pleasant walk a few meters away from the enraged water that crosses the throat, varying its strength and speed according to the canyon narrowness. We will finish the hiking route in the center of Garmisch – Partenkirchen, to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere of this alpine urban center.

Day 5: Oberammergau city - Ettal - Linderhof Palace Valley

Oberammergau is possibly the city with the artistic frescoes of highest quality in the region and where every 10 years the Passion of Christ is represented, by the men and women of the town. This event attracts thousands of supporters from all over Europe. The city has a cable car that will take us up to a beautiful alpine mountain from where we will descend through a beautiful forest, to reach the spectacular Ettal monastery and the glacial valley that gives access to the Linderhof Palace, where King Ludwig II of Bavaria used to hunt with his father. Years later it was transformed into another one of his fairy tales palaces.

Day 6: Tegernsee Lake - Mount Wallberg

Today we will travel to the Tegernsee lake, where we will take a cable car to climb to the top of Mount Wallberg and enjoy breathtaking views of the lake and other surrounding mountains. Today we will hike on a medium level route that runs through a beautiful area that combines high mountain meadows with forests that have been without logging for decades and are left to develop naturally.

Day 7: End of Tour

Today we will say goodbye, hoping you have had a nice trip.

Hi, nice to meet you!
I am working together with Laura Carmona González, we both were born in Spain and now we are living in the north of the Black Forest in Germany, close to the German Alps and the Vosges in France. Now I am going to tell you something else about myself.
I was born in Spain in a small village between Toledo and Madrid, nearby the Spanish Central Mountain Range. I have been living for some years in Scotland, New Zealand and 8 years in Germany. Spanish is my mother tongue and I talk fluent English and German as well as a bit of French.
I am qualified trekking, MTB and horse riding guide as well as Black Forest Middle-North Natural Park Guide - Schwarzwald Guide. Two years ago I finished my qualification as a Mountain Leader UIMLA.
Nature and mountains are a very important thing for me from long time ago, that is why I decided to take this hobby as my profession. I have worked more than fifteen years as a trekking, MTB and horse riding guide for many companies and travel agencies in different countries in the world.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
