Join us on this amazing Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek to witness panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges in Nepal.

A popular trekking destination in the Annapurna region, Poon Hill Trek (3,210m) is also known as Annapurna Panoramic Trek as it offers awe-inspiring views of the Annapurna massif.

This short and easy trek takes you through a gorgeous landscape of mountains and lush valleys and is ideal for both seasoned hikers and newbies alike. And you don’t even require any special technical skills to get on board, so there is no reason to miss it!

We’ll begin and end the journey in the capital city of Kathmandu. From there, we’ll head towards Pokhara. From Pokhara, the trail leads through many mountain villages including the settlements of Magar and Gurung people and it will be interesting to see their traditional way of living.

The following days will take us to the Modi Khola valley until we reach Tikhedunga. After crossing the Modi Khola valley, we’ll scale 3300 steps of Ulleri hill and continue through the beautiful rhododendron forest to get to the Magar village.

We’ll ascend Poon Hill, starting early and reach the top, just in time to see a spectacular sunrise. The top offers jaw-dropping views of the Annapurna range. You’ll be mesmerized to see clear vistas of the peaks of Dhaulagiri (8167m), Dhampus, Tukuche (6920m), Nilgiri (2637m), Annapurna South (8091) and many more.

On our way back, we’ll pass through the ancient Gurung village of Ghandruk and it will be truly enriching to learn about their age-old culture before ending the trek.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu, Transfer to Hotel 1,350m

After you arrive at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, we’ll receive you and transfer you to your hotel. Then, we’ll brief you regarding Ghorepani Poon Hill trek and you’ll enjoy a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Drive or fly to Pokhara (850 m)

Our journey begins with a 6-7 hr drive toward the amazing Pokhara valley. Then, we’ll drop you to your hotel, close to the beautiful Phewa Lake. You can go for a short walk in the evening. (For flying option, it takes a 30-minute flight to reach Pokhara).

Day 3: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1480m)

We will drive for around 1:25 hrs from Pokhara via the beautiful Lumle village to Nayapul (1050m). Following Modi River, we will continue for about 3-4 hrs to get to Tikhedunga.

Day 4: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2750m)

A steep ascent of 2hrs will take us to Ulleri (2070m). Crossing the Magar village of Banthanti from where we can get spectacular views of Machhapuchhre Mountain (6997m), Hiunchuli Mountain (6441m) and Annapurna South Mountain (7219m), we’ll pass the small bridge to get to the village of Ghorepani. From here, you’ll see captivating views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna I and other mountains.

Day 5: Ghorepani with Poonhill Viewpoint (3210m) to Tadapani (2710 M) 5-6 Hrs Walk

We will wake up early and hike for about an hour to reach the Poonhill viewpoint. Seeing a beautiful sunrise and catching the incredible views of Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7855m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (729m), Nilgiri (6940m), Tukuche (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m), Lamjung Himal (6931m) and other peaks, we’ll return to the hotel in Ghorepani for breakfast. Then, we’ll trek to Tadapani village on a scenic trail through the ridge of Deurali teahouses to reach Tadapani. Overnight stay at the teahouse.

Day 6: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk

Today’s trek starts with a 3- hour easy walk through the forest of oak, rhododendron and other alpine flowers to get to Ghandruk. Striking views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna III, Hiunchuli and other mountains can be seen from Ghandruk, which is mainly inhabited by Gurung people.

This is the second-largest Gurung village in Nepal where you can see the Gurung cultural museum, dance, architecture and Buddhist monastery.  Overnight stay at the teahouse.

Day 7: Ghandruk to Pokhara

Ascending via Ghandruk village, we’ll continue on the beautiful stone trail passing through the terrace farm to get to Modi Khola and after several hours, we will reach Birethandi, from where we will drive to Pokhara.

Day 8: Drive or fly to Kathmandu

We’ll either drive or fly to Kathmandu and transfer you to your hotels close to Thamel. (For flying option a 30 minutes flight to Kathmandu).

Day 9: Transfer to Tribhuwan International Airport
