Unlike the standard Breithorn ascent, this route follows the dramatic ridge between the Breithorn summits, giving you a more complete and rewarding mountaineering experience in a truly breathtaking setting.
Guided 1:1 by a certified UIAGM/IFMGA mountain guide, this trip is perfect for active hikers and aspiring mountaineers who want to go beyond a classic 4,000-meter ascent, build essential alpine skills, and gain confidence on snow, ice, and exposed terrain. It is also an excellent stepping stone for bigger objectives, including the Matterhorn.
No previous mountaineering experience is required, but good fitness, regular hiking experience, and comfort on exposed terrain are strongly recommended. Your guide will support you throughout the day and introduce you to key glacier travel and crampon techniques along the way.
Join this Breithorn Half Traverse in Zermatt and take your next step into alpine mountaineering with the support of a certified local guide.

Participants should have a good level of fitness and be able to hike continuously for 5–7 hours at high altitude while carrying a small backpack (5–8 kg). Previous hiking experience is recommended, but prior mountaineering experience is not essential.
The route involves glacier travel, easy rock scrambling (UIAA II), and exposed snow ridges. Confidence on uneven terrain, good balance, and the ability to move efficiently in crampons are important. The day typically covers 8–10 km with approximately 400–500 meters of ascent at altitudes above 3,800 meters.
During the climb, your UIAGM/IFMGA Mountain Guide will provide instruction on rope travel, crampon use, movement on snow and mixed terrain, and safe progression along an alpine ridge. This trip is ideal for strong hikers looking to experience their first technical alpine traverse or prepare for more challenging objectives such as the Matterhorn.

Mountain Guide
I started climbing at the age of 12 with the Club Andino in Argentina. From these first weekends in the mountains I felt the passion growing in me, and knew from this start what I would do later on. The dream came true, I became a Montain Guide. Ever since I have been traveling around the world, always searching for mountains to climb; continuously surprised by sunsets and unique sunrises… For many years I guided arrownd Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre range, south of my beloved Patagonia. Now a days my playgrownd is moslty in the heart of the Alps and Patagonia. I try to make each experience special for my clients, adapting to your level and sharing this unique feeling. Come, live big!

First of all a big thank you to Jeremais. He was a great guide, very knowledgeable about the area and always upbeat and friendly. Before the trip his communication was great. Always happy to answer any question, and done in friendly and upbeat manner. Just after booking the trip I was in a bike accident which left me off my feet for six months. Once my foot was better I managed to do about 100km of hill walking to prepare. Being honest, my level of fitness was not quiet there for the challenge. Being only a 400m climb I definitely underestimated how strenuous it would be. The altitude combined with melting snow really did take it out of me. Even so, Jeremais was able to keep pushing me to keep pace and got us up and down safely. All in all it was a very enjoyable trip with a great guide. I will definitely make sure my level of fitness is higher next time I tackle a 4000m peak.
Where do I begin? I had inquired with a recommended guide (from a family friend) who referred me to his colleagues for a trip up Cerro Tronador. Jeremias personally reached out and offered his services, and with multiple issues (gear, arrival times, refugio feasibility, weather) we finalized a plan for the Tronador massif. He personally met with me the morning prior to our climb and arranged for all needed gear (in addition to that which was brought) to include a set of mountain boots which he personally rented for me. He even picked me up from my hotel and drove the 2 hours to Pampa Linda! Our climb was nothing short of spectacular. He balanced challenging me with giving me adequate acclimation during the climb. I always felt well attended on the expedition. He even offered to move quicker on the descent to give me some time alone in my thoughts as we descended. Perhaps best of all, Jeremias allowed great flexibility with payment as I was working through some electronic options - on a weekend - to get him the money for the climb and was very patient with me for this. Absolutely 100% would recommend him as a guide for anyone who wants to trek/climb in Bariloche region and will plan on requesting his services whenever I return for further expeditions. Thank you, Jeremias!!!
Jeremias (and Tobias) adapted our plan on short notice to work around poor weather, allowing us to complete the climb. Jeremias was very kind, patient, safe and good craic all around!

The climb with Jeremias on the Breithorn traverse was incredible and the views on the Matterhorn were stunning. He knew the exact handholds to point out to me even before he got there himself. That was impressive. I've done a lot of climbing and only the routes I've done countless times could I tell you the holds and moves before you're there. That gave me a lot of confidence climbing with Jeremias. I look forward to the next trip with him!
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
