The Gunks (Shawangunks Mountains) are one of the most popular rock climbing areas in the United States. In this marathon-day tour you can explore this stunning region with an expert mountain guide of the Gunks Adventure Team.

Located 85 miles from New York City, the Shawangunk Ridge is the western border of the Great Appalachian Valley. Rock climbers began to explore this area in the mid-1930’s. The particular geology of the quartz cliffs and its easy access has made it a premier climbing region.

The Shawangunk Mountains has four major cliffs (Millbrook, the Near Trapps, The Trapps, and SkyTop). They offer more than 1,000 climbing routes for all levels. In this marathon-day, which consists in a 9 to 12-hour outing, we will choose the correct itinerary depending on your wishes and your abilities.

Rock climbing in the Gunks is famous for its one to three-pitch climbs, including probably the best moderate trad in the U.S. You will enjoy fabulous airy roofs, big jugs, and traverses. Fun and awesome views are guaranteed.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!
