Reaching the summit of the Matterhorn (4478m) is a dream for mountaineers from all over the world. The ascent of this iconic mountain is usually done in 2 days, but today I invite you to climb it and descend to the valley in just 1 day!
The Matterhorn stands on the border between Switzerland and Italy. We will ascend from the Italian side, from Breuil-Cervinia in the Aosta Valley, via the Arete du Lyon, or Lion Ridge. We will climb in an alpi trail mode, combining trail running and mountaineering, and making the approach with an e-bike.
In order to join this ascent you need to be extremely fit, with previous experience on long efforts, of at least 10 hours, as it is a really demanding climb. You also need to have previous mountaineering experience and technical skills.
Starting from Breuil-Cervinia (2006m), we will do the first part of the ascent by e-bike up to Rifugio Orionde (2802m). This way we can save energy for the more demanding upcoming sections of the climb.
Once in the Rifugio Oronde we will continue up to the Rifugio Carrel (3829m). We will ascend with trail running shoes and then we will change them by mountaineering boots. From the Rifugio Carrel we begin our ascent to the Matterhorn summit, following a demanding and challenging route.
Once on the top of this mythical mountain, the reward will be a great sense of accomplishment and some breathtaking views. Then we will begin our descend back to the valley by the same route.

I was born in 1990 in Lus la Croix Haute, a small village nestled between the Vercors and the Dévoluy, and right on the border of 3 French departments: Isere, Hautes Alpes and Drome.
I started practicing mountain sports at a very young age: skiing first and then then mountain biking. At the age of 7, I started ski touring on the trail just above my house with my father and my sister. And then, a few years later, I gave my first steps in ski mountaineering: Pelvoux traverse at 9, Dome de Miage on skis at 10 and the Meije traverse at 12.
I've always enjoyed competition and started competing in ski mountaineering since I was very young. I've won Pierra Menta twice and the World Championship four times.
Becoming a mountain guide has always been my dream and I'm very happy to see it come true. I have also started paragliding recently and I hope to be able to combine it with my mountain guiding business one day.
I currently live in St Nicolas de Véroce in Haute Savoie. My father's family comes from this village and it is here that I learned to ski. It holds a dear place in my heart and it is here that I feel most at home.
