Meeting point
Departure from Cuneo (or meeting point on the highway near Ivrea) heading towards Val Savarenche. Upon arrival, there will be a check of the group's mountaineering equipment before beginning a 2-hour hike to the mountain hut. Overnight stay available at Rifugio Chabod.
Early wake-up around 4:00 AM, followed by breakfast and departure for the summit. The ascent begins on a trail and continues across a glacier. While technically straightforward, the final section near the summit cross involves easy rock climbing along a short via ferrata. The ascent typically takes 4 to 5 hours, with the descent requiring approximately 2 to 3 hours. The descent can follow the same route as the ascent or take an alternate path to the other hut (Chabod or Vittorio Emanuele, depending on where the group stayed), forming a circular route.

Exemplary is the word. Andrea's colleague Simone was my guide for this ascent. Andrea coordinated my solo expedition of Monte Argentera with only a few days notice. Conversation with Simone was easy and fascinating from the get-go. He tailored the expedition to suit me best: we moved at a faster pace and took time to meet the wild animals. He introduced me to harness-and-rope based mountain-climbing and created challenges within my limits - always acknowledged the small accomplishments which was very reassuring!. After the main ascent, Simone used his climbing expertise to reach a child who had fallen from a cliff and assisted in an air-ambulance secours. He took it all in his stride and his humility and heroism were exemplary. As my mountaineering debut, I've come away from the experience with confidence, trust and fascination - I would be thrilled to do another.
