Description

Stand atop Japan’s highest peak, Mt Fuji (3,776 m), on this thrilling 1‑day guided hike (June to mid‑October). Departing very early from the Kawaguchiko area, you’ll ascend and descend the mountain in a single day. You’ll walk above the tree line, enjoy sweeping views of lakes, towns and the Pacific Ocean, and experience Japan’s sacred volcano with a local certified guide by your side.

Mount Fuji (3776m) is the highest and the most iconic mountain in Japan. On this one-day climb, we will enjoy setting off very early to reach the sacred summit of this amazing peak and return by the afternoon.

Due to the high altitude, we will walk above the tree line. You will enjoy the magnificent views along the trail of the town, lakes, and even the Pacific Ocean below.

Mount Fuji is located at a 1.5 hr. drive away from Tokyo. In order to tackle the lovely Fuji in one day, we will need to rise very early. I will pick you up at your hotel around the Kawaguchiko area and we will drive up to the starting point. If you have your own transfer, we can meet at the parking lot at the bottom of Mount Fuji at 4.30 am. *Due to the road restrictions, we will take a taxi from the parking to the 5th station during the peak season (JUL to AUG). The taxi costs about 15,000yen. per one way.

We will start climbing at 5 am. It will take us around 5 - 6 hours to reach the summit and then around 4 hours to come back down to the parking lot. We will be back at around 4 - 5 pm. After the climb, I will take you back to your hotel in the Kawaguchiko area or to the train station around Mt. Fuji.

Don't miss the chance to climb this iconic mountain in Japan. Contact me today and let's start planning an unforgettable Mount Fuji ascent!

How do we reach the 5th Station trailhead during the Mt Fuji hike?

During the peak climbing season (July to August), road restrictions mean we take a taxi from the base parking area to the 5th Station, which costs around ¥15,000 one way. Outside of peak season, direct access by private vehicle may be possible.

Can I hike Mt Fuji safely in June or October?

Yes, the Mt Fuji hike is available from June to mid-October, but early and late season conditions may include snow patches, colder temperatures, and reduced support facilities. The guide will assess conditions and adjust logistics accordingly.

How does the Mt Fuji experience differ between June and October?

June and October offer fewer crowds than peak summer but may involve more variable weather, possible trail ice/snow, and limited hut services. July and August are the most popular months, with full facility access and stable weather, but more crowds.

Is the Mt Fuji hike (June to mid‑October) safe for beginners?

While the trail itself is not technically difficult, climbing in this extended season window requires strong fitness, proper gear and readiness for variable conditions. Beginners with solid fitness can participate, but must be prepared for possible snow, wind or changing weather.

What time of year is best to climb Mt Fuji?

The official season is early July to early September when huts and services are fully open. If you’d like fewer crowds, June or mid‑October are possible, but require extra caution and equipment.

Do I need crampons or ice‑axe in June or October?

In early June especially, there may still be snow or ice; in mid‑October, conditions can also be unpredictable. Your guide will check conditions ahead and let you know if any specific equipment is required, especially in early/late season.

What about the mandatory climbing fee?

Yes — starting recently, the mountain authorities have instituted a climbing fee/permit system for many trails, to be paid on site (~¥4,000 per person).

I highly recommend Yuichi as a mountain guide for climbing mount Fuji. When we first arrived in Fujiyoshida, it was overcast and we were worried we wouldn't be able to get the views we hoped for. However, behind the scenes, Yuichi had the foresight to schedule our climb around the cloud forecast, so we summited mount Fuji when skies were clear. Yuichi was punctual with our pickup and communicated with us prior to ensure we were all on the same page.

Yuichi had all the equipment you would need for the climb available for rent. His English is excellent and he had a lot of interesting knowledge on the mountain.

My friend that I was climbing with experienced altitude sickness and needed to take a break from summitting. This happened at the 8th station, approximately 3,100m above sea level. Yuichi was patient and kind about the situation and had no problems waiting for my friend to re-regulate. Yuichi was comforting and empathetic which was greatly appreciated by my friend.

Yuichi was a positive and fun-spirited person to be around. My friend and I are extremely grateful we got to experience this climb. I wish I could give 7 stars. 5

it was great overall, the communication and process , just wished the guide wouldve made it more memorable by being more interactive,, it was a solo trip for me so it wouldve been cool if he took random videos or snap shots of me doing the hike.. afterall its a once in a lifetime type of thing for us not from Japan to do this... but other than that great guide.

Tim

Yuichi was an amazing guide. He was professional in every way. He knew the mountain, the route and everything that we needed to do to be safe and have a great ascent. He made sure that we did not climb too fast and waited extra time , without resistance, when members of our team need more rest. He answered all of our questions and chatted with us both in transit and on the trail. Finally he was encouraging yet not judgemental when a member got abit tired.
